I dont have 15 replies so I cannot post links.

I dont want to post a broken link of the scan to circumvent that rule.

Check out the Feb. issue of Tuff Stuff. You'll see a letter to the editor talking about scammers. Including this guy.

Thanks for posting this. It is the first time I have been able to see the ebay names.

FWIW- I did not write that letter to the editor.

What I know of him- He has a connect at the factory and or printing location. He gets full sheets. He then cuts them/has them cut and the cards on the outside of the sheet with the color bars he calls those proofs. When they are just a "normal" card with "extra" showing. He does have some legit proof cards. But to call anything with color bars a proof is a lie.

He also sells the "Chrome Proofs". Which anyone with access to hot water and a Chrome card can make. He told me during our few email exchanges they were cut from full sheets. Said he has a sheet. I asked for a pic and he set a few cards side by side and took the pic kinda far away.....Ummm no. Asked again for a pic of a full sheet that he has and well, it's been a year or 2 and I'm still waiting.

He does have some legit stuff. But knowing he misrepresents items, even after educated and then has items that are easily forged and the proof he provided was insufficient, I'd stay away unless you know about the item your purchasing.

G$MONEY$- Thx for posting the scan.

Ok...I've been watching this thread and keeping up on it pretty well. With all the faking going on, there has got to be someone that was scammed and bought a fake patch card here.

My question to anyone who has a fake patch........

What can you see on the card to tell it been altered. There has to be some evidence of tampering. I just don't believe you can cut out and replace a patch or separate a card in two and put it back together like nothing was done.

So, what am I looking for to find the altered card. I collect Hawks cards and have a lot of nice feather patches in my collection. Want to take a closer look at them now.

Thanks, Brian

Due to post count, I cannot post links. When I can, I'll add some pics. There was a site called fakepatchreport which had alot of fakes. Currently, it's parked. Most of those dont show any damage to the window.

The scammers have gotten pretty good. Esp. the ones that have been doing it for awhile. There are numerous ones where the window is not chipped or any other signs of tampering. But if you have the right tools, steady hand and patience it can easily be done. Sadly...

Another way is to know that set or insert. Did they include laundry tag cards, should it say Prime Jersey, it is numbered too high for a patch from that set, is the patch from a jersey after the cards release (lol, it's happened. another good one was the wrong sport ! )

Most scammers want to flip quickly. It's worth it to sign up for one of the sites that show completed ebay auctions for longer than 2 weeks. If the cards serial numbered, you can try a few different keyword searches to try and see if the card was ebay'd before.

Look at sellers history. Did he buy this card before? Does he buy alot of plain jerseys and sell patches? Does he have a buy and a sale acct? Many legit sellers do this. For good reasons. But if the item is questionable and he has 2 seperate accounts, I shy away. Does he sell other easily faked items? Buybacks etc. Or have other questionable items?

Did you Google the sellers name and the word scammer after it? Or try name and scam or just his name.

On a similar note- Vintage wax pack buyers. I've read on another board about a recent increase of vintage wax from a well known counterfeiting ring putting their goods on ebay.

The owner of fakepatchreport.com is gomaz (jeremy) who is a longstanding member here. I think he got overwhelmed by all the fakes out there.

Seriously, I can't understand how you people North of the border let him get away with this stuff.

That's all I can say without getting myself in a lot of trouble.

Updated Kenny ID - sens_fan2010 (original kao_seneca) account.

Darren

Now he's a sens fan? Now he has truly gone to the dark side...This guy will keep doing what he does until someone turns him in. I was lucky to have traded my last Kenny card and it was load off my back, but I don't see him stopping what he is best at anytime soon since it looks like he's expanding his market..

Someone needs to take all of the proof against Kenny, and take it to his local tv news station and expose him. That might peak the interest of the authorities.

My news station (CBC) would laugh me out of the building.

As an edit, there are collectors in the Toronto media (John Lancaster and my old pub buddy Jeff Marek to name 2) that know about Kenny and patch faking. In their words though, it just isn't news, except to a very very small segment of the population.

I will say this. I consider myself a patch expert as they are what I normally deal in. This guy knew what he was doing. The patches he made look good enough to be amazing and pack inserted....but not off the wall enough to call it a fake. Even the way he placed them was very well done. He did his homework. I would have been easily fooled.
