Ain't nothin' wrong with that...good kid lost a good coach whom he seemed to really look up to and respect. Good on him for wearing his emotions on his sleeve.

I'd have to disagree there, it's not so great that he cried on television because people will use this against him on the ice, they will say things to get in his head. Also not me personally but others, his teammates may take it as a sign of weakness.

Having said that I think it's great that he respected Savard so much, that he's emotional and everything. I just think it would have been a better idea just to leave the crying for when he got home.
 
Yikes, call me a hard ***. Great that he kid really looks up to someone, but there is a fine line between coach and player. Right off the bat, I just seen one reason why Denis got fired, too personable with the troops.

I don't look down on Kane for his emotions, you can't blame him one bit. Thank God the Captain didn't do that though.
 
I agree with Ryan here. Who cares if you cry on TV, Savard was very liked in Chicago and had a big influence on both Toews and Kane. For him crying on TV, Do people make fun of Steve Yzerman, Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier, Look at Brett Favre , do you think that he is getting harrassed out in new york for crying.

those guys were all established players getting emotional about ending their careers and what not...not losing their first coach, i just think he shouldnt done it on tv...
 
Gretz cried at the press conference when he was traded out of Edmonton.

I don't get why some of you look down on this kid for crying. So what? Big deal? If anyone says anything to him on the ice he probably won't care since he seems fine with it himself.

Also, that sign of weakness crap is dumb as hell.
 
He is just a kid. Just because he is really good at Hockey doesn't make him a robot. And for everyone saying he shouldn't have done it on TV, I must have missed the part where he called the press conference to air his feelings. The kid got microphones jabbed in his face and his entirely genuine reactions were captured on film. I don't see where this is a knock on him. Plus the people who will use it against him on the ice are the douche bags like Avery who are most likely jobbing him about something anyway.


At least it wasn't a TO "Man thats my quarterback..." or an AI "I just wanna win man..." type thing. Those made me want to to puke. Plus, without seeing the entire interview it is hard to know exactly what he is teared up about. Maybe Byfuglien kneed him in the balls just prior to the interview.... Just sayin :D
 
all im saying is that a guy who is a focal point of his team like kane is should maybe hold back his emotions a bit so the media and other teammates dont see how much it bothered him...you dont need people doubting the hawks decision even more

Who's looking down on him ? All I am saying is that the crying would have been better left for OFF camera, I'm not hating on him nor is anyone else here.

Totally agree.....this is exactly what I was thinking....:D:D:D

Im sure these guys looked up to Savard as a father figure as well as a coach. Being so far away from home so young, no doubt Denis took them under his wing....I dont fault the guy for getting emotional. He cared that much.....and we need more caring in this world these days......:)

My god he is the same age as I am he's not that young. I think it's safe to say I would have held my composure while in front of the camera's& teammates at the very least.

Same age... same job?

Unless anyone steps in the shoes of some of these athletes, noone has the right to judge... especially on emotions. This is something you don't see everyday.. we always hear about guys getting traded.. or upper management getting fired... how do we know what the players feel? A good example is when teammates have bonded.. and next thing you know.. he's off to Florida or something.

I can already tell this will be another 5 page disaster ready for the mods to close.

The guys who would be picking on him on the ice are likely the guys he skates around like those little orange cones...

What if the captain would off done the same, they lost a good players coach, its way better then crying like a Madeleine in front of your whole team cuz you cant handle the pressure, if you remmember the last Philly/Habs series, the young goalie in net...
 
All I want to know is, does this crying episode make his cards go up in value or down? Up arrows for female collectors, and down arrows for male collectors? :)
 
Price shed a few tears after a bad loss to the Flyers (or maybe it was the Bruins) during the playoffs.

I'd say no big deal considering he scored a goal and 2 assists the next day against the Canucks

These guys are human after all, even the young, innocent and naive ones.
 
I have to say that I respect him more after I saw the snippet of the interview. I've read that he's a hotshot, etc., so this genuine display of emotions tells me he really cares about his teammates and coach. Afterall, crying is part of life. No one should be ashamed of it.
