PayPal Holding Funds Until After Delivery. Is This New?

Hi all,

Is PayPal holding funds until after delivery a new thing? This sucks as now I have to ship w tracking (me and the buyer agreed no tracking would be necessary) and wait for my money.

This happened to me earlier in December. Sold a $475 item, never had funds held before. 5600+ feedback. Called and was told because I hadn’t sold something that high in a bit they automatically held funds.

If you don't use Paypal on a regular basis, they can do this after a while.

This happened to me on a big dollar sale a while back ($4k). PayPal said it was a precaution because I had no selling activity in a while. My PayPal account was very active as far as buying things but because of eBay’s dumb new managed payments system I wasn’t taking money in through PayPal like I used to be. Very annoying to have to wait all that extra time, and it took an extra day after delivery for them to actually release the money.

Its been over 40 hours after delivery with tracking # confirming it being delivered and I still haven't had my funds off hold. Sent them a not too nice message. Hopefully it gets released by the end of the day.
