PC cataloging question

Do you guys scan every card in your PC including base/parallel and low value inserts?

I have hundreds of Bourque cards and many are base and low valued inserts. Im thinking if it is worth it to scan every single card or just the higher valued once.

Opinions?
 
I do. Front and back, but on modern cards (if I get multiples) only the back once if there isn't a difference from the previous copy. Vintage cards both always though.
 
i used to catalogue the inserts, parallels and base. but then it got out of control and i just stuck to the autos/memorabilia.
 
I am not a player collector, so I do not have this dilemma.....but I will say that I would not likely scan base sets if I collected any....I would stick to the rare cards.
However, it would be cool to have a scan archive such as that wouldnt it?
 
I too scan each pc card and trader. I don't know much about scanners, but the one I got for Christmas automatically crops each one when I scan about 10 at a time. It makes things lots faster. Do they all do that?

I know my HP All in one does this as well (they all use the same software I believe). As long as you separate the cards from each other you can put 8 or so cards on the scan bed, hit scan and it will save all of them as separate files instead of one really big scan..
 
I wonder what percentage of HI members are as anal as me when it comes to scanning/organizing. Id bill willing to guess its a pretty good number.
 
Chalk me up as an obsessed collector too... every Vernon, front and back.
Being that Mike Vernon has a small set list and cards are painfully slow to pop-up as available, I've even resorting to collecting 3 of every Vernon card!!! Crazy?... I know (heck, I collect Vernon!)

I actually find I spend more time organizing my scans than the cards themselves, makes one agree with the idea that cardboard will become a thing of the past.
 
if i have multiples of a pc item with different swatches, i will go a gang scan. same goes for card sets- for example, when i get around to updating my Erik Johnson pc scans, i will scan all 6 of the Rookie Materials patches together, and i will scan all of the UD MVP card from various years together, etc. photobucket only allows you so much space for the free accounts, and i would rather have the traders scanned individually.

that being said, i absolutely hate gang scans for traders... you should be able to look at each scan from the main page and be able to figure out what you are looking at, not have to click on each image to enlarge it.
 
Nope, don't go to the trouble for cataloging purposes.

I only scan to share mail/show pickups...

Doing that would be too much like work.
 
I'd like to be able to scan every card, but because I like to adjust the colors, sharpness, blemishes etc. in Photoshop for every scan, I just don't have the time.
 
I started scanning every single card i have in my Datsyuk PC to show in my photobucket. I'm finished with autos, game used, game used with autos, rookies.
As for base-inserts-parallels, i'm finished with 08-09, 09-10, 10-11.

Started to scan my Duchene cards too. I have like 18, almost done. It's very cool to look at after, that's why i'm doing this :giggity:
