Being a healthy scratch, rumours of dressing room troubles, fighting with team mates (albeit Lapierre) - what does the future hold for what for the Hab's young d-man?

Does he make his way back onto the big club?
Does he go back to the minors?
Does Montreal trade him at or before the trade deadline?

I personally think the media are making a mountain out of a mole hill - but you have to ask yourself why they are sitting him out?

I think they are going to trade him and try to bring in a top 6 forward - someone who can go to the net and finish.

He needs to get sent back to the minors and learn to respect his teammates and the game he plays. He acts like a spoiled brat
 
Actualy I think he needs to play like he did at the beginning of the year where he was cocky, he played better then. Since he toned down his attitude on the ice he has become less successful. I think the habs would be foolish to trade him, as he will be a good defenseman and help the power play out. They also have the cap space from Markov being out which I am shocked they have not pulled a trigger yet on a deal to obtain a top 6 forward
 
He is too talented to give up on at such a young age. The veterans on the team need to take him a side and talk yo him. That's what the captains are for. He needs to learn to respect the other players and shut his mouth. If he would stop the BS and just play hockey like he can then he would be fine.

Maybe a trip back to the minors would be a wake up call for him. He is cocky and feels untouchable.

Hey Scott...you've provided some pretty good options here. I guess it really just comes down to what's best for the franchise? If someone's going to fight with a teammate, that's not such a big deal...that sort of stuff can be sorted out over time. However, if he draws the ire of the other superstars in the league, is a problem in the locker room, and plays himself out of his role on a consistant basis (is he benched again, or are you referring to when he was a healthy scratch before,) you've got to look at a couple things:

a) Age/maturity
b) Current value to the club
c) Current value to the rest of the league

He's proven he's immature, and at this point and time, I don't think he's worth much to the rest of the league since he hasn't really proven much in the first half of the season. How much is he worth to the club? I'd still say he's worth enough to send back to the minors for a behavioral conditioning stint. It sounds to me that more than anything else, he just needs a chip knocked off his shoulder. Will he accept a stint down in the minors to do that, or will he refuse to show? That'll be something only time tells, but I think sending him down is the best option. Maybe he just needs that reality check that he isn't invincible :)
 
From what I have seen (which is limited compared to many) he just need to get his game back and most likely that can be achived in the minors.

He's young and cocky - shocking - like Dion Phaneuf was a real modest guy. He'll be a good player in this league, just needs to find out exactly what his game is and where he fits - he's pressing and people are pressing him - just needs some time in my opinion.
 
I like the way he plays. I hate it when people cry about him having to respect the other players around the league.
 
He will play himself back into the lineup. It's just a matter of time. Fighting with teammates happens all the time. Respecting opponents? Who cares, respect them enough not take cheap shots, other than that, they haven't earned HIS respect. It all sounds like the same bunch of whiners that had similar issues with Crosby.

Last I checked, it wasn't the whiners that continue to bench him. The guys has issues right now and the team doesn't wan't to play him because of it. Subban is to young (with potential) to just be floating around with the team in the pressbox, playing a game here and a game there. They need to either play him on a regular shift, or send him back to the minors so he gets a lot of minutes.

Teams don't ask players to change if there is nothing wrong, much less when an opposing player calls him out.

The only reason Martin is benching him is because of his situational play and decision making on the ice. It has nothing to do with his "lack of respect" for the opposition.

This was most evident last night (Dec 28th) against the capitals and the goal by Green. PK was caught up ice deep in the offensive zone and Green was allowed to proceed to the net unhindered.
 
Speaking as a fan who goes to the Bulldogs games.. I don't want to see him back here, he will just try to play hotdog and screw up our well oiled machine, we are doing great without him. I know he is still young and has alot of learning to do, but I think he will do better up there than back here in Hamilton
 
Sorry I have to disagree. Phaneuf might have been cocky and play tough but at least he backs it up. PK is a chicken, he shoots off his mouth and then run and hides.

PK will be just fine. There are certainly aspects of his game that need to be improved, but he is aware of that, and really, what 20-year old D-man in the NHL can honestly say "there's nothing I can do better"? The 9 people that voted "trade him" are likely fans of other teams hoping to land him. LOL
 
Keep up in the nhl....with markov out he gets much needed experience and minutes. I agree with other posts: running his mouth;and being cocky just will equal a fiesty more productive subbanator
 
The attitude is not a problem in the game, it is only a problem when you cant back up what you say or do. Then your team suffers the consequence because they have to kill off penalties or be at the receiving end of retaliatory hits.

The habs have lacked emotion for years now, think about it, the last 'emotional' player they had was Ribiero..... And he wasnt the 'good emotion' player.


I voted that they trade him, when a player disrupts the chemistry so much that you sit him out, there is a problem. My mets had a similar guy in Lastings Milledge, he was an arrogant little $%$%, so they traded him. Do I want him on my Rangers? heck no. We have prime Dmen since getting rid of Redden, all we need is to 'lose' rozs-bud during the next road trip and we're good....
 
I bet they send him down to the minors to continue to work on his game. As a Bruins fan I would love them to trade him but that would be stupid for Mtl to do now. Having him back in the Minors he can work on his game and there are a bunch of Vets who will gladly shut his mouth for him if he does not learn. JMO
