I was just curious how other player collectors feel about getting show cards.Do you consider them a priority as to trying to get every different card of your player?
Thank-you,
Ralph. :D :D

I used to...and then I realized that they were being cranked out at an insane rate. Now, I just wait for stuff to fall into my lap. Mostly.

Inexpensive as in what's high & low? I found a ton of those BAP cards of savard & the average price is $3.50 a pop & the emerald numbered 1/1 is $8.00. Hmmmmmm.....

I don't pick up any show stamped cards unless I use it to fill in for a card that I can't find otherwise. For example, I have been looking for a 1998-99 BAP Gold Auto of Leetch but the only one I have been able to find is a show stamped version. I picked it up until I can find a "regular" one. The only Show cards I do like for the PC are cads like the Priority Signings set or the Fall Expo Jersey set. I guess cards that re unique and specifically made for a show are kinda cool to me. ....my $.02. Mike

Ok so instead of making another thread, what's your take on the 1/1 printing plates such as the 97-98 Pinnacle ones?
Thanks.

I love printing plates. I grab as many as possible. I actually like them as much if not more than a Base Card parallel. But I do like those too.;) Mike

PS- Unless a Print plate is encased like The Cup ones last year, I actually like them to show some wear from the manufacturing process. For me this is the one example of where I prefer a "card" not be in Mint condition. Mike

I don't touch show stamps. Why? It's impossible to catalogue what's available. ITG produces them for the Fall Expo, Spring Expo, The Big One, The National, and god knows how many other shows. How are we as collectors supposed to catalogue those? The way I look at it is the card is no different that the one that was in the pack, except it's been defaced by somebody with a stamp. So I steer clear. The exception would be the unique cards created such as the Priority Signings....

I used to do the show stamped cards for my Forsberg and Blake PC's, that is used to. Then, as Rob alluded to, I figured they were about as scarce as, well, the next set from the next show. Now, I could care less if I get them or not, they're pretty weak IMO.

Printing Plates? Never been a huge fan. The only one's that ever really struck me as semi-cool are the UD Series 1 and 2 plates from last year, I kinda liked those for some reason?

I'll agree that a unique autograph or memorabilia shopw card is different and has appeal since they are generally a stand-alone set with a design unique to anything else, not just a mainstream issue stamped 1/1.

So let's review:

Printing plates, indifferent and show cards blow unless they are a unique design and contain used fabric or inky-loo. Sounds good to me!:)

I pick up show stamps when I come across them for cheap - $1-2 cheap. I only add them in to my player collection lists when I actually have them, so not having them doesn't do anything to my completion percentage, since I think it is near impossible to know what's out there.

I really like printing plates, though. :D

pack pulled plates are great imo, but the pacific treasury collection plate sets to me aren't worth a whole heck of a lot. Pulling a plate from a pack used to be near impossible, but the pacific treasury ones could be nabbed for ~$50 a framed set including a stamped 1/1 card & coa straight from the company via ebay.

show stamps? I've picked up a few here & there, never paying more than $2-3 for one as I just see them as a neat little thing to toss in the back of the binder. I don't go out of my way looking for them but if I get one, yay me :)

I always love adding card to my Pc so I try as much as possible to get show cards but i will no more pay 20 bucks for a Huet show card /10

I loved the ITG this year with heir Fall Expo GU, great design, lovely card, not cheap but a nice addition to my PC

I can't stand show-stamped cards, for some reason. So, I prefer not to have any in my collection. Printing plates, I like. :p

Never been a fan of stamped cards....seems like a gimmick to me.
BUT, for the right price I would definately pick one up of Bergeron if I didn't have it yet.
Just me though:)

They usually aren't something I'll actively go after but if the money is right or they can be worked into a trade, I certainly won't say no.
