Player Collectors: Your Thoughts On Multi-Player Cards?

Hey everybody,

Curious to get some opinions from other player collectors on this...

Personally I only go after single player cards for my collection, for two main reasons:

1) Way too fussy about player selection
2) Generally like the design of single-player cards better

I am aware that I will miss out on a sizable portion of the total Lindbergh memorabilia cards but I'm totally okay with that.

I know there are "completists" among us who will grab whatever they can find regardless of player combination, but I'm sure there are a few others like me who are only interested in the single player cards.

Only single player cards for me too for my player collections.

The one exception is my Habs collection as long as all Habs are featured.

I'm fairly picky about such things. The pairing would have to be interesting and probably also of someone else I collect to make it something I'd want. Something like a Price/Pogge or Price/Ryder auto...no thanks. I do love my Price/Koivu though.

I've been lucky so far, most of the multi player cards with giroux have been with other flyers, but I have picked up quite a few with other guys on them, as time goes by though and he has more and more with other players, that might change.

I'm an 'anything and everything' guy.....but respect and enjoy the fact that some player collector set-up parameters and adhere to them. Ultimately it comes down to 'What type of collection or project will make you happy'.

When pairings have good reasons behind them, I'll bite. I've got a ton of Cheechoo/Thornton dual-whatevers, and am always happy to see Sakic paired up with Forsberg, Roy, or Yzerman. But it just completely baffles me when I see something like a Cheechoo/Perry combo. They're completely different players and don't have enough of a specific rivalry between each other for that to be a logical connection either. And I got ridiculously sick of seeing Cheechoo/Ryder duals. So yeah, if there's some logical association, that's fine, but I hate when they pair players who I guess they see vague similarities between.

my answer is maybe but it depends more on the card than the players.

ie. i don't care for most generic dual, triple jersey cards from products like Artifacts or SP Game Used but something nice like the Frozen Foursomes from Ice or 1-2-3 Clearcut Combos from Trilogy i'd probably jump on.

I go after all memorabilia and autos of my player regardless. I will say though that the Lindros/Messier pairing is getting very very old.

The only cards I don't collect for my player collections are cards that don't show the player named, ie that Famous Fabrics crap-what a waste of time and money.Its always a bonus when the multi-player cards feature other Avs, because I die a little inside each time I have to purchase a card that has Modano or any Detroit Redwing pictured.:badmood:

Absolutly. The player Ranford has been pair with the most, as been Grant Fuhr.... once with Andy Moog (that's a combo I'd like to see more of). Lafontaine and Housley were odd choices (I thought?) but nice cards. He was also on a couple of the UD Black 'booklet' cards this year.... and I was happy to pick those up.

I go after everything with Voracek on it, except the multi players 1/1s.

Generally I don't, but I do see some dual cards that I think are pretty sharp looking. I don't collect the Bruins but I like cards with Bourque/Neely on them. I guess it just depends but as a general rule no.

I have one exception, the cards in my signature. If I ever get the entire print run, I will then sell each one and keep #1/10.

I have refocused my collecting to only patch cards with Kiprusoff on it.But autos anything with his auto on it and can be multi player.I have found it a little less exspensive only collecting game used with only him pictured on it.

Everything with Lundqvist on it. I actually find some of the multi-player cards more interesting. I'd love it if they issued a Richter-Lundqvist dual auto patch.
