Poll: How would you prefer autographed cards sorted?

Guys, we're gearing up for the Expo again and we have a TON of new autographed stuff from a collection we bought to add to what we already have from the Robert Thomas Collection.

We already sort our 8x10s, index cards, cut signatures and the like by team, but in the past we have done autographed cards by set and year because that's how they came to us. Now with our new collection, most of these cards are by team.

What's the better and easier way for you as a collector/customer? Do you think more people would want to look through monster boxes sorted by team and then by player, or would you prefer them to be by set, i.e. 1977-78 OPC?

I can see it both ways. Set collectors would be driven nuts by having to hunt around for specific cards, but player and team collectors hate having to go through everything to find the guys they want.

As a bonus, I'll randomly pick one person who responds in this thread (if you're just voting, just say "I voted" and that's good enough) and send him or her these two autographed Upper Deck Masterpieces cards!

Personally I like it by team..me being a Sabres fan thats mostly what I chase.

I would sort them by team. Collectors needing to finish off sets usually only need a handful and know what teams to peruse to find the cards they are looking for.

yeah I'd go by team, easy for the player collectors to find them and anyone working on an auto set should by now recognize them quickly flipping through a box

You should probably appeal to the masses (team/player collectors) rather than set collectors.

I have my singles sorted by product/set...not by team. But autos are a different story, as there are much less autos than singles.

Like it's been said earlier, you have to appeal to the buyers. With more people player/team collecting, I think that by team and player is the way to go.

For autograph items most people will look for teams. That is what I always look for when I look for autograph items.

I am a set and player collector,I would perfer team and player organizing

Neither are perfect for both but looking for players takes way more time going by year and set. At least if I'm finishing a set,I know the team and player of the one needed and it's norrowed a bit

I'd go with teams & players as I don't collect complete set of autos. Just complete base sets once in a while.

I'd go by team, but have the star players/HOFers sorted out separately. Or sort out by team but have it sorted out by increments: 2000-2005, 2006-2010, 2011-present.

It does get messy when there are autos for players that have been on multiple teams. Unless you leave a decoy card indicating that there are other autos of the player under another team, but that could be a lot of work.

Wayne, every year I have tried to organize by player and team and half way through Friday, the cards have been reorganized by people rummaging through the boxes and putting cards where ever they find room. LOL..
