So you guys know that I, like most hardcore player collectors, has to have anything he can get his hands on and usually I buy the first copy I can find of any given card I need for the Rob Blake PC.

For the first time tonight, I passed on a card that I had yet to acquire. It was a real toughie to boot, numbered to 10. But if you look at the swatches, you'll know why. I figure 10 copies today with the resources of the net and friends through the boards make things a tad easier to track. Factor in UD Series 1 is heavily broken annually and the first copy off usually goes the highest so that was a plus in my favor as well (although that may not be applicable here with those swatches!).

Here's the card in question:

So what do you think, good move or bad move on my part? And why?

Player collectors, fellow hobbyists, holla back!:D

Yo B
You made the right call, talk about Fugly! 2 white swatches! I mean there are 10 copies, it's not like it's out of /5 or /1... :) Remember how worried we were about Sig sticks popping up and then 4 popped up in 2 months? It's just a matter of patience and with a run /10, a better copy will come up for sure, and UD1 gets broken quite heavily!! I did want to vote twice, one for A) and also C) OCD Freak! haha

Good call. Even if you did get that one, we all know you'd buy the next one that comes up because it'll have nicer swatches :)

I was also going to vote for C, then thought of my own PC ;)

I think it was a good move on your part. 2 white swatches and it looks like some chipping at the bottom as well.
I bet you will get a better one in the coming months for $50 or less.
Good hunting:)

I think you did the right thing, supporting anyone that spells card with a k is best avoided if necessary :)

Not worth it if you are a player collector. 2 plain swatches? It's numbered to 10 and there are only so many hardcore Blake collectors out there so it's bound to pop up again.

Wy is this not a multi poll! :(

Any way, i have passed on a 10 copy Nilsson once and after that i did hunt it in more then a half year!

It end up that i did contact the winner on Ebay on that card and did pay him $25 extra for the card just to get it!

I think you have a very very nice collection (one of the best i have seen in hobby) and that make the chanse to miss that card, ho knows if you find one more, know i think you whill do but it could take a long long time... :(
Or it just take a day! ;)
But any way your collection on Blake is amazing...

Barrie

#3 was a NO-BRAINER!!!!

BUT I CHOSE #1 - THERE IS NO WAY THAT ALL 10 COPIES ARE THAT PATHENTIC!!!

Mine's a write-in Barrie.

Most of the Generations patches I have seen are about that attractive. Very poor swatch selection in general. However, I haven't really seen those patches pop up a whole lot. UD1 isn't any worse construction-wise from last year, it's a ton worse content-wise. No Crosby and no Ovechkin make Homer something something.

I've passed on cards I don't have because I think they're going too high or because I think I can do better. I think if you'd bid, you'd have ended up paying $90+ for that card...and then been hunting for an upgrade. Walk away, bide your time, and bid like a maniac when you find one you DO like....but get set for a bit of a wait.

I agree with Q, even if you bought it you would end up searching for an upgrade. Wait for the real deal.

I'm going write in as well - I think you should have hit it for that price Barrie, then kept on a search for an upgrade. They seem to be extremely difficult to come by, and as Q said, there may not be a nicer one show up.

Good luck regardless!

B,

I'm amazed that people can even think you have Blake OCD, where would they get that idea from  Oh yeah... your mail posts :p :D

Those swatches are pretty nasty so I can see why you passed, however like others have said I hope another pops up sooner rather than later :) I passed on a card and haven't seen it again and that was /20, boy do I regret it now :(

Good luck and happy hunting my friend. :D

Well Barrie if I had unlimited funding I would have bought the thing and then bought the upgrade also but since I don't have endless funds I usually wait. Another ALWAYS shows up eventually. Unless it's a 1/1 of course..:D

I'd say it's a good call... no sense spending the money on a card you won't be happy with. And I would expect at least one more of those to pop up at some point (hopefully with better patches)

I see I'm in the minority here. I would have gone for it and kept a look out for another better volour and then resale/trade the single colour one. Having said that, there's probably another, nicer looking one out there already. :D

Brian:cool:

Guys, thanks for the feedback and it's good to know only a little over 7% of you worry about my mental state!  :p

As far as that card, please keep your eyes peeled for me?:)

I did manage to snag one a tad bigger from UD Series 1 a few weeks ago, but we'll save that for the next mail call!;)
