This might be a weird request but how do you go about taking pictures of cards to post on Instagram. I have tried scanning them and they turn out to be too big. Do you use the camera inside the Instagram app? I am looking to get a clear, close up shot that fits into a post on IG. Any help?

I use my camera of an iPhone pro, it works perfect! Some cards I take several shots from different angles to light out details…it is not much work… so maybe give it a try!

Most of the time I'm using my phone camera( and i end up taking the picture like 30 times until i get it right or extremely close).. others I use my scanner.. i crop them down. and i send them to my FB messenger to myself, and copy them to my phone. then i use this app called Snapseed.. where I resize the photos.( my son showed me how). and i have been using that ever since. plus those of them that follow me.. can see i have a black border around my card photos.. i think it just make it more uniformed. but there some that i can't it doesnt like posting vertical and horizontal ( if the front and back of the card are like that). so i have to finagle the cropping to make it fit... hope its not to confusing.. but thats what i do.

I post my scans right from the computer. There is an "icon" in the lower left when creating the post to "Original" ratio - don't use 1:1, 4:5, or 16:9. Hope this helps. P.S. My IG is https://www.instagram.com/brownbullhead/ .

The key is to have a border around your scan so that the entire card shows up.I use my iPhone and it works great. If you really want to use your scanner take a screenshot of the scan from the folder on your computer. Then edit that, I use Paint, which will allow you to create a border around the scan. Works for me.

Border or not, if your image is not in the 4:5 ratio that IG tries to mandate, you need to set it to "original" ratio. The preview thumbnails will show top and bottom nipped off, but it show OK in the actual IG feed. that's been my experience.
