Just got my grading email for the Gretzky I sent in, they graded it a 7. Not sure why, maybe I got a newbie or someone having a bad day, but this card is nicer then a bunch of 8's I have seen and owned. Probably going to bust it out of it's slab when it gets here and send it to BVG. I bet if I resubmit it to PSA in a month it comes back with a different grade. Anything in these scans make you believe it should be graded lower then an 8?

Centering is actually pretty good comparitively, the scans make it appear more off then it really is. Even if it was 60/40, it shouldn't lower the grade by more then 1. Surface, edges, corners, color, etc are all dead on, so at the worst it should be an 8 in my opinion. The guys at the local shop looked at it, and compared to hundreds of other graded cards they have in their case, they thought it would be an easy 8 with a shot at a 9. I don't get paid to grade cards though, so it's up to the graders and not much I can do.

Disheartened to say the least, I really thought I had an 8 or a 9 with this one but oh well. Not going to mess with having it regraded, I'll just sell it and look for another primo copy to get graded.

My scanner hasn't been cleaned in probably 8 years, the spots are just dust spots. The centering on mine is much better then Go Hawks, maybe I should send it in to BVG.

They will only grade 1 grade hiher then the lowest grade, I suspect that the centering killed the grade for you.

yeah...I've seen some cards get downgraded big time just because of centering. Personally, I think sharp corners are harder to come by, but that's me.
