PSA Using the Inner Sleeve in a Slab?

Hello. Saw this auction for a really cool PSA 9 Fuhr OPC rookie, and noticed what looks like the Fuhr rookie being in a penny sleeve inside the slab. Of course this is the norm for all BGS slabbed cards. I know PSA does this for bigger or odd sized cards, but I have never seen this with a regular sized card. Interesting to say the least. A new trend for PSA, or just an anomaly?

Who knows, maybe it's a new trend for them. I think It would make a lot of collectors happy if that was the case. But I feel if they were to start a new standard like this, maybe they would start these newer standards for protection on higher-valued cards first, perhaps? So I'm not really sure.

I like PSA, especially for early 90's and vintage, but I've always felt the downside to their slabs are the lack of an inner sleeve like BGS and a more flimsy slab. But like I said, I still like PSA, and feel their slabs look nice and display well. I will only buy BGS and PSA and basically no other cards in other slabs.

But yeah, it could be a new trend or something. This is the only one I've seen. I'd be interested if anyone has seen any other cards like this in PSA slabs.

They seem to use the sleeve in the card moves around. If the card is a perfect fit then they sometimes exclude the sleeve. This is just based on my observations from my orders this year.
