Question about 1995-96 Wayne Gretzky Record Collection Set

Hello,

I bought a small collection that had many cards from this set. There are all the regular cards from G1-G17, and two headers cards (one from Collectors Choice and one from Series 1 or 2.)

When I view the complete checklist in the Beckett book there seems to be a Header for Series 1 and Series 2. I know there in a purple header and G18-G20 which were inserted in the SP boxes that year that I am still missing. But there seems to be a Header for Series 1 and 2 and I can not tell which one I have - and thus which one I would need.

I attached a picture from Ebay and can not tell the difference either. Is there a way of telling the two blue Headers apart?

Let me know if anyone has any insights on this.

I had the same question a while back while completing the set.

Both headers from the UD S1 and S2 are exactly the same...except the S1 header does NOT have the TM (i.e. tradmark) logo under the Upper Deck symbol (located on the front, top left-hand of the card).

When the same header was released for S2, a TM logo WAS present.

Pretty underwhelming difference, I know.

If you go on comc.com and put in your search, you can view the difference. Unfortunately, COMC lists both of them under the one, generic 'Upper Deck Checklist' title.

Wow, thanks for the great answer. That is a pretty subtle difference, especially when you only have one to look at in hand.

Thanks for clarifying, I guess I have the Series 1 header.

Also the Copyright on the back says 1995 for Series 1 and 1996 for Series 2.

This set was spread across four products. The first batch (green) came from Collector's Choice. The next two sets of blue (hence two headers) came from UD1 and UD2. The last batch (purple) came from SP.
