question about a patch...where is it from?

this isn't a question about if it's real or not, I'm just curious where this kind of patch is from:

that's a salming card, but i know of other different players with similar lettering patch? Is it from a old timer's jersey? or...?

Yup, those swatches were quite common for the Limited Logos in I believe 06-07 and are indeed from the oldtimers all star games that go on during the NHL Season.

I've got this Bernie Nicholls card that looks like it might be from the same patch. Legends Classic game.

Yes, from the Hockey Hall of Fame. I don't recall what it actually says on the back of the card, it should say event-worn or something like that.
