Question about a thread I posted - am I in trouble?

Anyhow, it is from the B...... site, and I received a call from the store owner today telling me that his lawyer will be in touch with me because he was suing me for slander.

Should I be worried?

I didn't mention his name, and when he mentioned that I was no longer welcome in his store, I chuckeled and asked if I was lying. He didn't respond.

Looking for opinions, but I don't think he'd try anything for fear of all this coming out in the public.

Sounds to me like he's just upset because people are finding out what goes on, or maybe i'm wrong, i was wrong once before in 1997

Worst case scenario - the dealer finds the thread, goes ape-caca on it and gets it locked.

You didn't mention him by name though, so he doesn't have a thing on you.

i saw screw him and call his bluff. You have not stated names , phone number, or any other information. He's just mad at you for exposing him......if I was you I'd start a boycott against his shop lol......start a rally infront of his store with a bunc hof other collectors

Even if you did use the store name, the essence of slander is that the accusation is untrue. As the accusations are dead on the money, you can tell him to go fark himself.

I'd confront him. Tell him point blank that he's essentially stealing from his customers, and vermin like him are the people driving collectors from the hobby. You can quote me if you like.

This should help you out. You never named names or the business. So I could sue you for slander also in this persons eyes. We will just say it's a moose who owns a card store.

1. No name = No malicious intent towards the guy = no slander civil suit.

2. Always good to have some kind of education prior to uttering threats....as your thread would fall under a libel (written) civil suit not slander (spoken).

BINGO!! Give them a call and describe what he is doing and they'll investigate. Worst comes to worse they find him to be ok but at least you know you did something to try to fix the problem.

If you really want to jam him up, spend a few bucks and take out an ad in the local paper. State facts and ONLY the facts that you have SEEN and nothing about what you might have heard. Let people know where the store is. Make sure to keep opinions out of the ad and do NOT tell people to avoid his store. When people see the facts, they can draw their own conclusions.
