So I've been collecting - "penny sleeves and top loaders" collecting - since 1987. In 37 years, I have NEVER had a dealer buy a card from me and then ask me to fill out a form where my first name, last name and phone number were required UNTIL this past Expo.

I sold a card to a dealer and he breaks out this book and asks for my first name. I give it to him. He asks for my last name and I say "you don't need it". He insists he does so I drop "Jackson" on him. He asks for my phone number and I tell him he doesn't need it. He insists so I give him Pizza Pizza's number. Now I KNOW I was being an a-hole about it because I admit it lit my already short fuse, but was I wrong in being so slight? Does anyone else in the room do anything like that? Again, that was legit the first time in 37 years that I have been asked for this info.

I have not been asked this information. I think this is due to people buying and selling stolen cards. I am just guessing but hell no. They ain't getting that info from me.

I take a selfie with the cards, the seller and his I.D. whenever I buy at Expo.

Well,

There was a whole thread a while back where a guy had his collection stolen and it was being sold on Ebay. Some people were blaming the Ebay seller for selling stolen goods he bought from someone, and saying he should have taken steps when he bought the cards. So this just looks like a dealer trying to cover his butt, if someone claims the card is stolen?

My best,

ken

Maybe it's evidence of him thinking he got a really good deal and thinking you were selling too low...

He could have at least explained why he was asking... but given how thefts and recovery of stolen property impact whoever is holding the card at the time it's discovered, I can't say I can't blame someone looking for some extra security.

That was my collection. We talked about collecting info regarding police file numbers, phone number of the detachment file was under from the claimant.

Oh, and an update. I was able to get back two of my cards from another dealer through the RCMP.
