Question for Player Collectors

I have my master list done up in word......I started it over a decade ago and have just never transferred it.

My wantlist is done up in excel. I then upload the doc onto my dropbox account which I can access from my phone. After years of walking around with a paper wantlist, I can finally say that I am done with that never-quite-updated piece of paper.

There are numerous methods that work. And I love hearing of the various ways. At the end of the day it's about being the master of your master list. Make it whatever you want it to be.

Good thread.

While it is another forum, SCF has a pretty solid inventory manager that allows filtered querying and export to Excel (and presumably Word). I have used it with a couple of my little sets and have nothing but good things to say about it.

I use Excel, Photobucket and SCF. I've seen things missing from SCF that are usually oddball items and team-set items, which is where the excel file comes in.

Agreed. I never use just one source as my be all, end all. I create my own master list based on information from numerous sources. And in the end, I feel like my list is more accurate and complete in comparison to those sources.

I use Word, and I go to Beckett and select all the cards for the player I am collecting, and then cross them off as I get ones in.

This is where I'm at as well. I also have printouts in binders because I just can't let go of that system.

I guess I'm not too crazy about it. I have a good idea of what cards I already have so if I see one I haven't seen before then I will get it. I collect a bunch of players but only track one of them. I printed out a checklist from a site and that is my priority. I think I focus moreso on teams and my other projects rather than the player collections.

Put me down as another who uses the MS Excel / Website combo. My scanner has been broken for a while and I haven't gotten around to replacing it, so scans of the cards are behind, but the want list is always kept up to date so I can surf over using my phone and see if I need a particular card or not.

For my Excel spreadsheet, I have formulas that track how many cards I have/need per season in various categories, and change colour when a season is complete, etc. I know, I need a life. :p
