Question with playoff standings....penguins

What is the highest rank penguins can get for the playoffs? I was thinking the third spot since capitals will have first spot and the Panthers are in the other division having that top spot but I'm not sure exactly how the new playoff standings work

Pens will play the Rags in the first round, then meet Caps/wild card in the second round if they advance.

THanks....I guess I should have learned this last year....went through almost a year of not giving a you know what and then just never asked/researched .
I guess it could change but at least I get it now.
