Radulov bolts back to the KHL

this finally concludes the drama we Preds fans have had to deal with for years concerning radulov. every summer the same rumors start firing up about rads coming back. just another burnt 1st round pick for the franchise. it really is a good thing the Preds can find gems late in the draft like rinne, lindback, hornqvist etc., cause they have really bombed with some of their top picks.

Ok, who here would leave their jobs for the same job overseas making 3-5X of what you are making now?
He is young, he is playing very good KHL hockey (good NHL), he is taking advantage of the financial opportunities in front of him. Let him make the money to a point where it doesn't really matter and come back to hte NHL near the end of his career as a "worldly" player. If the KHL ever gets a Hall of Fame, he will be in it.

Seriously, what NHL team would touch him now? The guy is a total joke as a player as a result of this. His career goal is not being a hockey great... NHL or otherwise...he obviously only cares about money.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out !

So for us "common folk", suppose you want to be a teacher. You are offered 50k a year to teach in a prestigious private school, or 250k a year to teach in your home town despite the obscurity of the district.

Put it all in perspective and you see how foolish some of us look...

I see y our point, But then again, that doesn't compare to the the NHL. People all over the world pay attention the the NHL. it is without a doubt the most recognized hockey league in the world. Kids look up to players in the NHL. No one cares about the KHL, and when they keep taking the NHL's left overs and rejects, people will just see how much of the joke they continue to be.

I appreciate the NHL so much more knowing that no team wanted to have that chump in their team.

I feel bad for Preds fans.

Radulov bolts again.... Tootoo (a fan favourite) signs elsewhere.... Suter gone... Weber will be gone next summer.

Ouch.

Your point holds water until you cross an ocean - everything you say is completely true...in North America.

It is getting to be more important in Europe but there are still many European players that grow up watching their game and the biggest prize in their eyes in the World Championships. That is their perspective - it just happens to be a little bit different than ours - like comparing forks and chopsticks.

I don't blame him for heading home for a boatload more cash - not to mention, he probably gets treated infinitely better at home than he does here. He's been completely dogged (deservedly so on most occasions) since he got back to the NHL. Seriously, is there a good reason why he should stay here?

Go home - Pros.
1 - No Language barrier
2 - Treated like god
3 - Party when I want
4 - One of the best players in the league
5 - Know the area and the people
6 - Make a boatload more cash

Cons -
1 - It's not the NHL

Very good points my man. I am very guilty of not looking past North America.

I can't say I know too much about Russia but I have heard they are treated very well there and partying and curfews don't seem like much of a problem. Just a very different way of life for them.

Do you happen to know what taxes are like for the players in the KHL? Are they a lot less than in the USA? I have always wanted to know that. 4 million is the USA is like actually 2 million after taxes lol?

Taxes are non-existent in Russia, not to mention the perks that extend beyond boatloads of cash.

Sometimes I wonder why people seem to take it personally when a player leaves for the KHL. Do you think the people on the Russian equivalent to the HobbyInsider boards slam a guy or the NHL when a Russian opts to leave there and play over here? So why do people feel the need the slam somebody over here when they do it? I say good for him, because quite frankly, the NHL nowadays isn't all everybody makes it out to be. If I were in his shoes, I'd do the exact same thing.
