Ray Emery Fights Team Trainer in Russian League

It's not right to judge Emery without the backstory. I'm guessing that this trainer probably deserved to get his butt kicked.

This is the second forum I've seen this discussed and there are still a decent amount of people that are still willing to defend Emery. I don't get it, what's so surprising about a player with a history of being a loose cannon going off again? He's a joke and should never be back in the NHL again.

I find the whole event kind of funny. Who knows what really happened? I'm sure Emery didn't just swing at him without warning. Sure he has a short fuse, but who's to say the "hat guy" didn't say something really stupid to him? We don't know, and never will. Perhaps there was a breakdown in the "language barrier"? I know I've had days when I was in a bad mood, and if I had someone shoving things in my face that I didn't want, I might do the same.

Also, I find it odd that the video starts right when Emery threw the first "shove". We don't know what transpired before that (like when he came off the ice). You gotta admit, the trainer guy was in his face. He should have known when to back off if Emery had just gotten the hook from a game. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know he will be pissed off. I'm not saying Emery is 100% innocent, but I don't think we are hearing the entire story.

From hf board:
Emery's agent said: "As far as I understand, Emery wasn't happy with the way he played in the first period. In addition, he was very sweaty and didn't want to wear a cap. He said about it to that guy three times, who then looked at him in a rough way. As a consequence, my client pushed him away".

Basically the conflict is over. Emery apologized to the guy, they shook hands. Ray explained that he was obviously frustrated after being pulled and couldn't understand why the doctor wanted to put the cap on him, he didn't want it. The coaches are saying there is no problem in the team and the conflict is just a minor incident.

^^ "Sucker" Ray would be more to the point, considering his continous acts of idiocy. These kinds of egoistic wanna-be-martyr drama queen morons make the game look bad. Hope he gets the boot in Russia as well.

Overall I think that was pretty funny. If it was any other guy, who would care, but because it is Ray, people do care.

The rest of the story... from http://www.tsn.ca/columnists/james_duthie/?id=265560

"I couldn't figure out what he was doing," Emery says, from Russia. (Forgetting the time change, I woke him up in the middle of the night. And waking up Ray is no small feat, eh John Paddock?)

"The (You Tube) video only shows a small part of it. It must have gone on for a minute, He just kept trying to stick the hat on my head, and when I finally pushed him away, he just kept staring at me like he like he wanted to fight. And he started telling me to ****-off in Russian. So I kinda...lost it."

Suddenly blockers and trappers were flying down the hallway next to the team bench. After one of the coaches pulled Emery away, Roman kept screaming at him, telling him he wanted "to go".
Wait! I got it! Roman must have been just following orders from above. The hat must have had some big fat logo on it, and the back-up goalie has to wear to it as part of some major sponsor deal. You know: "This goalie change brought to you by Yuri's Meat Market, featuring the best Shashliki in Kazan."

"Nope," says Emery. "There's no sponsor. He just...really wanted me to wear that hat."
