Around 2 years ago there was some discussion about using a CCD type scanner to get better quality scans of cards, especially cards in slabs. I picked up one of these scanners (an Epson V600) but never found the time to re-scanning my cards. Well I finally got around to getting all my slabbed cards done. Figured I would show off some of my favorites....

From my Hull collection

Now I just need to get caught up on the rest of the collection.

Very nice! Does the scanner automatically adjust to the size of the slab or do you have to crop them after scanning? I love that Howe and Orr.

I think that has to do more with the software than the actual scanner but mine will automatically adjust to the slab or whatever is being scanned.

Yeah the different type of scanner does wonders for slabbed cards. I got an Espon V550(?) for that very reason. Now I guess I need to find time to do mine as well

Thanks for all the looks and great comments everyone.

Yeah the scanner software will automatically adjust to the card size. However all of these scans I cropped and resized myself. The original scans I made much larger then what is posted here. On a few of the cards the software had a bit of an issue defining the edge of the slab, so I just used a set scan size to add a bit of a border around the slabs. Once I set the custom size, it was easy to use that for each new slab scanned. The software that came with the scanner is good, however I am still trying to figure it all out.

Scanners like those really do the cards justice. I hope to get one for myself in the future too. Just dread the daunting task of rescanning too lol as I did it once before and as much as I love to scan cards, doing many in one shot is tiresome. On top of that you sure did chose great cards! One thing i'm noticing is that the color on cards such as the 87 Yzerman really pops.
