I've had some of these for a month or more but just had the time to get through the scanning. So, let's jump right in, we've got a lot to look at!

The first three are for the trader box.

An MM3 AP, Kitty Pride by Karen Krajenbrink, and it was well worth the long wait:

The other two are not new acquisitions, but they were cards I found behind the shelf on which my scanner sits. Oops. A Witch King by Kevin Graham from LotR Masterpieces, and a Two Face from DC Legacy by Jim Kyle.

Then on to the cards for my collections.

Adam Hicks Rhino from MM3:

Mel Celestial from MM3:

Then an Anjin Anhut from MM3:

Finally a Tod Allen Smith from, you guessed it, MM3:

A couple of Artist Proofs from MM2 that I got directly from the artist (Jake Minor), a Gambit and a Rhino:

Then some Catwoman sketches from Batman Archives, one by Bruno Oliveira and two by James Cordeiro:

A Complete Avengers Firestar sketch by Justin Chung:

And one from WoM by Mark Dos Santos:

Commissioned and ACEO cards

First up are more spoils from Elaine Perna. Continuing my Family Guy/Spider-Man villains theme, we have Christobel as Dr Ock and Bruce the Performance Artist as Kraven the Hunter:

Several from Mark Spears. The first two (Mary Jane and Mystique, respectively) he had done and was simply selling; the Firestar and Rhino I commissioned from him:

A commissioned Rhino from Blair Shedd:

From Nathan Ohlendorf I've got four cards--he had already done the Zombie Spidey, so I asked for a Zombie Rhino. The others were some others he had already done so I picked them up for the Firestar and Rhino.

A couple more by George Calloway. The first has so much detail it's incredible. Firestar "and Friends" and one of X-23:

Commissioned Firestar and Rhino by Brandon Kenney:

Commissioned Gleek, Firestar, and Rhino by Rich Molinelli:

Then to end things for a while, a couple from the Star Wars universe.

A Lando by Ingrid Hardy...

...and a Lando/Leia by Randy Martinez:

This is probably going to be a dumb question but do the artists actually draw on the card or are they reprinted from an original. Cool cards nonetheless.

Nope, not dumb at all. The artists draw on the cards themselves. Some use colored pencils, some use markers, some even use oil paint (so I guess technically those aren't "sketch cards" per se).

That Lando by Ingrid Hardy...Looks like Xzibit and he is coming to pimp the Millenium Falcon. Congrats on quite a haul.

Those are really cool!

Another "newbie" question. What is the ballpark range that an artist charges for a commissioned piece? And how do you go about contacting the artist?

Perhaps this info could be added to a NonSport stickied FAQ. I didn't seen one in Discussion

The ballpark range is quite big--I've paid from $10 to $75, but some artists charge $100 or more. I've only ventured toward the $75 end two or three times. If I had to guess, I'd say the average is maybe $20 or $25.

The great part is that most will draw anything you want, provided you can give reference pics sometimes. For example, I had to give Rich Molinelli some pics of Gleek for the card above. Or another example, for Elaine Perna's "Kraven" card above, I told her I wanted it to be be Bruce the Performance Artist as Kraven, but I wanted the vest, soul patch, and earring.

I know it's sort of taboo to mention other message boards here, but since the audiences don't over lap much I don't think it in poor taste. There is another mb called "Scoundrel" that has a lot of artists on it. That's the best place to start.
