ok, I'll share my view on this topic as well as I'm the one who's getting blamed here now.

History:
- we agreed to a deal with sdoan19 that included 95-96 Finest refractor Shane Doan RC. I had this card and had a pic of it at bucket. here's pic:

This obviously is a pic of refractor though the resolution is not that good. you can see this clearly from blueish shadows around player on white background on boards. I know that card I had, scanned and also sent to sdoan19 was refractor. I had built a set of 1994-95 finest refractors and also have a bunch of 95-96 finest refractors.

To try to convince myself and sdoan19, too, I scanned Petr Sykora cards, so that they show what's the difference between normal and refractor.
here are scans:
Sykora normal - sykora refractor - doan card I had

As you can see from pics, the Doan card (& this is 100% sure the card i also sent to sdoan19) is refractor based on those blueish shadows instead of grey in normal card.

sdoan19: please scan your regular card and card I sent on front side and we have the answer to our argument. everyone can then judge based on that pic.

The case for me is a shame since this was only $15 card out from our $300 trade and it also makes me believe sdoan19 that why would he complain about $15 card in $300 trade. so, please scan fronts of the card I sent and a regular card. that will solve it.

Without taking anyones side I wonder who would try to screw someone for such a "zerovalue" card? I mean either way? Oh why?

Just cancel the trade and thats it?

well, it's all settled now I hope. :-) just a misunderstanding, etc. as sdoan19 has both refractor and regular now. and as he was missing refractor and now has one after I sent a card, hope all is fine and thread closes down. Thanks for the scans.

I would like to know only about other collectors sometimes whether stands with your Card behind Refractor on it, more not
thx

I opened some Topps Finest back in the day (though it wasn't hockey.) The difference between commons and refractors were as easy as picking out red or blue, especially when you put them together like in Lemmy's example...the two Sykora cards side by side. I guess it's been settled now, but if the card was the one Lemmy sent in the scan, you absolutely had nothing to worry about.

I gently dispute the "zero value" statement - it matters to sdoan19. It has value to him, though perhaps not as much in general on the dollar scale.

And I know of a few refractors that missed the "refractor" designation on the back.
