So the only sets I collect are Series 1 and Series 2 (base + Young Guns). Given the excitement this year I was planning on buying a few boxes to break. Stupid me didn't buy any during the pre-sale and my other job took me away during Expo to Chicago. By the time I got back the prices of boxes had started to climb.
Given how busy I am of late I said to myself, I'll pick up a box or two next weekend. Wrong move. Price kept going up. Again I was away for the weekend on work and on the way back home I decided to stop in at CnC to pick up a box.
And I did okay with my box. Canvas of Larkin YG, Young Guns of Domi, Galiev, Medvedev, Parayko, Kulak, de la Rose, etc.
Not bad.
With retail hitting the market I figured what the hell I'll try two boxes. For the price of 2, it's essentially a little less than 1 box of hobby. So I stopped in a Walmart just before closing to pick up two boxes.
Results
Sitting in my car in the parking lot, I open the first box and I get a canvas of Carey Price, then a shining star, and I hit my first YG. Stanislav Galiev. I'm like dammit. I hit a YG of a player I already have. Keep going. Canvas of Sidney Crosby, Blue Shining Star of Bobby Hull and I hit my second YG. Evgeny Medvedev. A louder dammit. Another YG I already have. I think to myself, well if I get a Domi I can live with it. Keep plugging away. Down to two packs. Open the second last pack and hit my third YG.
You guessed it.

Pretty happy. For some reason I had some sleeves and a couple of top loaders in the car and I put that card away.
I figure given the mass production of the set this year, prices will have to come down a bit but given I got the big YG out of the way, I can chase the rest of the YGs I need through the secondary market and through trades.
With that one out of the way, I opened the second box relatively happy.
