Roberto Luongo agrees to waive NTC

I have a feeling I'm opening Pandora's box here, but here goes...

During the Canucks exit presser, the media spoke with Luongo who acknowledged he would waive his no trade clause if the Canucks asked him to do it because he was interested in doing what was best for the team.

It's (now) no secret that his family has been playing a role in some of his discontent in Vancouver, and it's causing strain within.

My thoughts...as much as I'd like to see Luongo stay in Vancouver and the Canucks sign Schneider and use both like the Blues did this year with their half and half, I think Luongo's probably on the move to Florida or Tampa, and Schneider gets signed long-term.

I dont blame him one bit. My guess is Yzerman is going to pull the trigger on him and bring him to TB. Im pretty sure Lu's family loves the warm climate.

I think the most logical place is Tampa, they need a goalie, and Luongo's wife is from Florida. I hope this happens. I don't think Luongo has deserved much, if any of the crap he's taken in Vancouver. If he does get moved to Tampa I would put money on Tampa winning a second Cup before Vancouver would win a first.

Hope it works out to where both sides are satisfied with the outcome.

I agree that luongo will be dealt to a florida team, Years ago when he got traded to vancouver, I remember reading a report that robertos wife wasnt happy with the trade because the couple was expecting their first kid, and that his wife loves florida.

I can also see the leafs and canucks rumour start if they havent already but I dont think burke wants a long term contract but he did say that he was going to fix the goaltending situation, should be an interesting summer

Don't forget Luongo has several business interests in Florida. This would make the most sense for him to go back there. I personally believe that he shouldn't be blamed for the troubles in van. I would gladly take him in Toronto!

Tampa makes a ton of sense - they need a #1 and they have some cap space. Malone could make some sense although he has a NMC.
i don't think they will get a lot for Luongo due to his age and contract, but if they think that shipped has sailed they should move him.

Schneider is an upgrade from Luongo based on his "game"
experience,I think you people are in for a big surprise.It
still makes me laugh how quickly after last season Luongo was turned
on because of Game 7.It's been said forever that he's overrated
and nobody in Nucks nation would listen.Now that Vancouver
lost out in Game 7 in the Cup last year and bowed out in round
1 this year,it's his fault.Good luck with Schneider.Sure he's younger

What has Schneider done? He had Boston college within 1 period of a national championship. He brought the Manitoba moose to the Calder cup final. His stats are better than Borat's in all categories except shutouts.

Lu's problem is he gets rattled easily. Just watch any game he played against Chicago or Boston.

And if Luongo does get moved to Tampa I would hope we would get a few prospects from the admirals. They have some solid d that can develop a bit more in the ahl. I wouldn't expect no blockbuster with vinny L.
