This news was actually broken by TMZ, and then picked up by MMA media outlets.

Ariel Helwani has confirmed that both stories are true.

This is a watershed moment for Mixed Martial Arts. Ronda Rousey is on the verge of being a mega-star. Already being featured in Sports Illustrated, it is clear that the mainstream media is very interested in her. The only question is will her first UFC fight be on FOX or Pay-Per-View?

I kind of hope its on FOX, it will give the non Ultimate Fighter shows a bit of a boost, which is likely needed with the general population as I always here whining about the UFC not having good fighters on free tv, which as a UFC fan, I know is bs.

I'm just not interested at all. I'm just not interested in seeing women knock each others heads off. If it was grappling/BJJ I would be into it. Not because its two girls rolling around together, it's that I love the art of it. But watching girls MMA/Kick boxing is not interesting to me what so ever. I hope I'm not coming off as a male chauvinist because thats not what I am what so ever. It just does not interest me what so ever. I would rather watch "Real Housewives of New Jersey"........seriously.

If they put her first fight on FOX they can probably get 6-7 million viewers in the U.S. and really launch her as a superstar,

You'd probably like watching Ronda Rousey though. 6-0 Record 6 first round armbar submission victories, including one gruesome elbow dislocation of an opponent that didn't tap.

Ronda is an elite athlete on the level of GSP and Jon Jones. I personally am interested in the possibility of seeing her fight Sara McMann down the line. As it would be the first time in UFC history where two olympic medalists (Rousey - Judo Bronze: 2008) (McMann - Wrestling Silver: 2004) would face each other. Don't get that type of pedigree in the men's ranks.

MMA isn't just about knocking heads off as I'm sure you know, and Ronda Rousey isn't that type of fighter anyway. Wrestling and submission specialist. She's won all of her fights by submission so far.

I never said it was. I simply said I do not want to see a striking match between women. It's not my thing.

No doubt you don't see that everyday.
