Rookie Collector seeking advice

I have just begun collecting with my 6-year-old in an effort to support his growing interest in hockey. Last year, we collected the Upper Deck Series 1 (2012-13) and the Score set(2012-13).

Unfortunately, I have been unable to complete both sets as I am missing 1 card from the base UD series and 72 from the Score series. I have attempted to go through my trusted hobby store to complete both sets but thus far have been unable to.

Since most collectors have moved on to the current season, I fear that most of these cards will be scarce. Any one know of a way to complete these sets, preferable online, since there isn't a store in our hometown?

Try posting your want lists in the trading or buy/sell forums on here & if that doesn't work www.comc.com would be a good spot to check, also www.sportlots.com is worth a look

buy /sell forums here (and other hobby sites) are usually really good. I would imagine you'll pick a lot up that way. COMC.COM is another great placed to buy, and of course there is always eBay.

Which Score cards are you looking for? I might have some, and I'm sure between all of the members here, we can take care of them for you.

definitely post on forums, especially if they're base cards. i've noticed that fellow hockey guys will ship out piles of extra base in order to help others.

I've posted the lists in the "Trading Area". The comc.com site seems quite interesting though it would be pricey to complete a set this way. Glad to know I have options should I only be missing a few cards though.

I have found that if I am buying an insert or two from someone, I'll ask if they also have some of the base cards I need and will sell cheaply to include in the package. This works out and sometimes they'll just throw them in, as will I if I am the seller and have a few base to help out.

Head straight down 40 highway to The Stadium! Actually, take plank to brigden side road, to eberts line and back on 40 east of chatham. Saves you 15 minutes. Blenheim to Murphy/London Road is 50 minutes.

Seriously, come on down during our trade nights (1st Tuesday of each month) or trade days (3rd Saturday of each month). Not only can you make some excellent contacts with local traders, you can go through our huge inventory of base cards going back to 1951 and all the newest products. The wall rules!
