We have our semi-annual Big One this weekend. Bigger venue, bigger looking show, same dealers with crazy prices. I spent today fully ignoring hockey, and focused on trying to get MMA stuff for my PC and beyond.
Nothing doing in a whole. Very few sellers had any MMA, and the majority that did wanted way the hell too much. One guy figured he'd ask half book for all his other sports, but UFC was worth full book. That's fine if the cards sold for close to what book was. His $25 Chris Horodecki auto will sit with him till the foil rots off the sticker...
...and don't get me started on mini jersey guy
So naturally, the pickups were few and far between, especially for my PC.
This scan below is stuff that'll be given away on Twitter over the coming weeks and months. How? Some of it'll be tied to my fight card coverage at Fighters.com - Stay Tuned.
This one's going to the fighter himself...I told him I'd send a few things along since he didn't have any of his own cards yet, but this is the only "thing" I've grabbed outside of a parallel or two.
Next the keepers ....
First off is a Jared Hamman Title Shot auto for my "I'm on only guy who collects Jared Hamman" collection. I couldn't gather up enough excitement to scan it.
I was surprised to see this, but I had to grab it when I saw it. Cyrille Diabate's one of those guys in the UFC I really like, though I know he's getting up there in age and probably won't have enough for a title run.
I believe this is his rarest card to date...the /8 base parallel from Knockout. He has ruby auto redemptions out there from KO, but as far as I'm aware, he never signed.
Lastly...back in the day, I was offered a smokin' deal on Round 1, but I passed. I don't remember why exactly. Anyway, with boxes now soaring in the $750 auto, and me having never owned a Round 1 auto, one struck my eye, and after a bit of negotiation, I was able to do a cash/trade for this beauty. He don't sign like this no more
My 3rd Topps Silva auto, though probably my least favorite of all of them (since one is part of a set, and the other is a 3 clr auto relic) outside of the fact that it's a round 1. It COULD be available, but for the right offer.
Hopefully someone magically brings more MMA stuff tomorrow
