No disrespect to to anyone, but, 8 is scoring goals that no one in the horrible goalie/no defense era could compete with. He is the best pure goal scorer hockey has ever seen, in my opinion.

Very true. Certainly not taking anything away from the great scorers of those eras as they don't control what the competition is, but watch highlights of goals from the 80s vs now and it's not even close. To do what Ovie has done is absolutely unreal

His 50th told me he's a long way from done too. I'm not quite sure how to word it, but so many of his goals are just plain aggressive.

I think one thing we'll all appreciate about Ovie, no matter where he finishes in the all-time goals race, is his pure joy for the game. Name one other Stanley Cup winner who acted like a child on Christmas morning after winning the Cup. I remember Don Cherry blasting Ovie because of his celebrations and his laughter during the game. The guy's always had personality, something most of the players in the league lack sorely.

I for one wish him all the best and I hope that he does break the record.
