Looks like Burke.....er....Santa decided to keep Wilson around for a while longer. He has a mediocre team playing pretty good so far this year and no doubt this was a good time to announce it considering its Christmas. The media may be reluctant to play Scrooge for at least a couple of days.

I wouldn't have given him an extension yet. Wait until they get into the playoffs then extend him. What if they don't make the playoffs? You're now tied to him regardless, may not be the best thing.

If they don't make the playoffs this year I hope Rogers/Bell cans both Wilson and Burke.

You guys need to stop blaming the coach,right now he has poo to work with and is in the middle of the pack and playoff bound,really dont see how anyone would like to see him get fired,doesnt make any sense at all,with all the injuries they had he is doing a great job moulding the poo hes got,and really doesnt make sense to fire one of the best 5 general managers out there,and i know this is gonna come a shock to most of the leaf fans but hey i am gonna beat my head against the wall and say again THEY ARE NOT GONNA WIN THE CUP THIS YEAR 6th or 7th will be huge this year,heck i will take 8th and consider it a great job

Poo to work with? I disagree.....he has players doing all the wrong things that any other coach would NOT have them do. Torontos Powerplay would be better if Phil Kessel was dancing around the slot looking for a wrist shot rather than TRYING to control the play on the boards. He gives the puck away more often than not and should be receiving passes, not making them. Phaneuf is not a Dman you can double shift EVER.......he tires too easily and then makes more mistakes than he is helpful. A good leader, but he has limitations. Grabovski makes the stupidest passes on this team and yet he is still praised for being a hard worker by his coach.....he should be benched for a game or two. Kulemin would find the scoring touch if Wilson moved him to a better line like he has done with every other forward. Poor Kulemin stays on the third or fourth line all the time and continues to suffer. Schenn is a solid shut down dman and should never be expected to be an offensive star....Franson is an offensive Dman and should not be expected to play well Defensively, yet Wilson plays them plenty in roles they don't belong in.

This was a premature signing and I don't like it. The results that matter are at the end of the regular season. Not at Christmas break. I am a huge Leafs fan and I wish they'd have waited to see how the team plays for Wilson for the remainder of the season......

I like Wilson, nice to see him re-signed. Burke came in and is slowly building a team that can contend for a play-off spot. Ron is a major part of that re-build and I'd much rather have him stay on then re-cycle some other coach who got fired somewhere else.
Maybe we should hire Gardzy as an assistant as he seems to know just what is needed.
