Photos like this are so incredible, imagine the story behind the puck drop....

My guess is that the players knew this would be Gordie's last trip to Detroit (game #66 in 1980), and he wanted his boys with him for the puck drop. What would be interesting to know is how Detroit selected their starting 3 to face the Howe's. I'm guessing the significance of this event wasn't lost on them either, perhaps someone here knows more about Gordie's last NHL game in Detroit?

Alllllll of that aside, I would like to thank the mystery person that mailed this to me. The only thing I know is what Canadian city this came from, clearly anonymity was part of this kindness. Your gesture has really hit home, this photo is in a good home, and will never leave :beer:

Wow Glenn, nice piece. I can’t believe the way the sons “Howe” looks so much like. Gordie’s Being the custom wiz that you are I’m just wondering how long before Gordie’s name is added,lol.

That's a great piece Glenn... I love seeing a defenseman line up on the wing! It usually means the coaches threw a bunch of goons on the ice to fight, but in this case, it's an obviously special moment.

I'm with Dan - I'm sure you'll figure out a way with the framing to somehow incorporate Gordie.
