I took some time to reflect on the Sedins' career. I think Nucks fans were spoiled by these guys. I know there will be some detractors who will say that they never won a Cup. But lots of pretty good players didn't win a Cup. Only one team wins it, and if you're a 2nd line player on a cup winning team, does it make you better than the star players on the losing team? IMO, no. And as we all know, it takes a team to win a Cup, not just a couple of elite players. For me, it was so close. So close that it still hurts today.
The Sedins left Nucks fans with some amazing memories, and jaw dropping highlights. I still remember watching the 6-2 goal vs Calgary. (highlight #4 in link posted above). I truly was in disbelief. I couldn't believe what I just saw. Their skill was just off the charts. And often because of their quite demeanor, they may have been underrated a bit.
Each winning the Art Ross trophy, in back to back years was pretty cool. That's some pretty elite company too.
Very few players play their entire career (and lengthy ones too) with just one team. And each playing over a 1000 games and getting over a 1000 points. I would have to rank them the top Canucks ever, based on skill, commitment to the team, and loyalty to the city. What they did off the ice was just amazing too. Class acts beginning to end.
Thanks guys for the wonderful memories. You will be missed, but definitely not forgotten. All the best in your future endeavors.
