Semin signs

The new era of fiscal responsibility by NHL Owners and Managers.

Darren

Yep...I will say what I said after the Perry signing...thank goodness we went through yet another lockout to get back to responsible spending by the owners and GMs...gross...

The Hurricanes have almost $44 mil committed to 8 players for the next 3 seasons. McBain, Faulk, Tlusty are RFAs and Pitkanen is a UFA after next season. How are you going to sign 15 players for less than $20 mil. You'll have a team with 2/3 AHLers.

Canes are going to suck.

Faulk would be great to pry out of Carolina. I really think the kid's got a bright future

hahahahahahahahaha

One of the only 30 goal scorers that I can think of (except obviously for Kovalev) that I, under no circumstance, would want on my team. The fact he is getting paid more than most others in the game shows why the canes moved from CT in the first place. Complete fiscal irresponsibility (well that and a scumbag owner...)

Rutherford is totally banking on the NHL revenues going up. But in his short-sightedness, so will player salaries.

I agree, I would not want Semin on my team with a long term contract. I guess only out they have is the amnesty buyout, unless Semin is able to fool them for 2 more years. He'll be 36 when this new contract is done. If he's a dud for the last 2 years, you've paid him almost $12 mil/year for the 3 years of actual production.

This many times over....

Glad the Capitals let him go.

He will be one of the most overpriced players in the league in a couple of years since he has known to flake if his heart isn't in it. He did it in Washington playing with superstars and there's no doubt that he will do it again in Carolina. Hopefully he has matured and I am proven wrong, but to make him one of the top paid players in he league based on 30 games played is an absolute disaster. How much is someone like Phil Kessel worth then who is a more proven scorer than he is? Perry and Getzlaf seem like bargains now and Rutherford was someone that I respected, but now that is out the window.
