Senators - Islanders Trade

:sens:'s have acquired centre Mike Comrie and defenceman Chris Campoli, eight- and four-year NHL veterans respectively, in exchange for centre Dean McAmmond and the San Jose Sharks’ 2009 first-round draft pick, obtained from the Tampa Bay Lightning in August 2008.
 
Obviously no Isles fans or people with hockey knowledge have answered yet. Campoli is an excellent puck moving dman that is only 24. He fills a huge need in the sens line up for next year as well at a very reasonable price, 675 000. The pick is San Jose so it is a very late one. Plus they pick up comrie for the rest of the season which tells their fans they are not giving up. I would be happy if I was a Senators fan.

with this being said yes Campoli is a good young d-man....but he could have esily been picked up for much less....also a late first rounder is still a first rounder

they could have gotten more for what they gave up

seasons over....a dozen points out....might as well save the pick....maybe move it at the draft to move up beacause they will be getting a top 10-12 pick for sure
 
The senators are ridiculously far out of the playoffs, why would they want comrie? Maybe they want first dibs at resigning him so they can add some depth next year. Campoli is a good pick up. He's a decent second line mobile defenseman. I think the Isles made out the best hear though. They will most likely have the 1st or 2nd overall pick and now a late 1st rounder in a deep draft. Good move for a rebuilding team.

The Senators will not be making the playoffs. Even most sens fans will acknowledge that. The last thing they should be doing is trading first round draft picks.
 
This is just a 'meh' trade, i dont see how this really helps either team. It is always fun to see 2 teams trade when they are both so far out of the playoffs.
 
Campoli has 6 goals this season he has more goals than names like Jovo, Ohlund, Vlasic, Kaberle, Pitkanen, Carle.....all done on a horrible Islanders team.....i would call him a good young d-man....worth what was given up in the package not even close

again like i said he coulod have been had for much less.....but again the Schnieder deal has increased the price for all D-men i guess
