Senators Jersey Off Englund's Back

I don't post very often, but I felt inspired after watching relatively unknown prospect Andreas Englund get another game with Ottawa, and the Sens getting the win in OT.

I am a longtime season ticket holder and last season I was one of the lucky winners at the Senators annual Fan Appreciation Night game worn "Jerseys Off Our Backs" night. All the winners got to draw straws for the jersey they were getting.

I would have been giddy if I got Tkachuk or Chabot, but of course I got the guy who only has one rookie card, 10 cards total (6 are Compendium, of which 4 are plates).

Love my jersey though, and the experience that came with it. Is it wrong that I didn't want my jersey signed? For those of you wondering about the actual jersey off his back, there is no COA (if you buy a game worn from the team, you get a nice certificate and certificate holder), and no authentication patch sewed on the fight strap (game worns from the team have Senators authentication patch on fight strap).

Good info to know if you are ever considering buying a "Jerseys Off Our Backs night" game worn jersey, this is likely the provenance.
 
It's weird they wouldn't have the jerseys they give to the fans made up the same way the regular game worn jerseys are with the identification patches on the inside of the jersey. Also weird that they don't give you a coa or anything that proves it is a game worn jersey.

Did you guys go out onto the ice and get the jerseys right after the game ended or did the players go back to the dressing room and change into new jerseys first that were then given to you? In the neck area does it say the jersey is made in Canada?
 
Very cool! That’s odd...a lot of teams (maybe I should just say some) tag the jerseys specifically for that night. It’s weird especially for Ottawa to do nothing because their game jersey program is really really good like you mentioned.
 
Ottawa actually gave away their set 2 jerseys that game that they wore from January to April. I'm curious whether or not any of the jerseys were tagged, or if it was just Enlgund missing the tagging. Englund only wore the red jersey for the one game on April 6.

Interesting... I did not realize that they gave away their red set 2 jerseys that game. Good point that Englund only wore it that one game, maybe locker room staff didn't have time/prioritize putting the tagging on his jersey.

We went out onto the ice immediately after the horn went. It was pretty stressful actually, as one of the ushers told me I had to be downstairs by the ice by a certain time (before the game was over) or I would have forfeited the prize.

The players remained on the ice when the game ended. Jerseys came literally off their backs. Made in Canada, they are gamers. They are huge. Nilsson took off his jersey next to me and it was the biggest jersey I have ever seen. 6'3 Englund looked tiny compared to 6'6 Nilsson.

The Caps do it on the last home game of the regular season as well. However, they exit the ice, then return, so I'm not sure if it's their actual gamer or a different one.
