Report this morning in the Boston Herald says Shanahan (who lives in Massachuestts) reportedly WANTS to come to Boston... as always, the issue is about the money they'd pay him. But I'll go on record as being in favor of bringing this type of player to town.

Should be interesting...

Oh hell....Boston's lost their minds. It's bad enough that they've just overpaid Chara something fierce...

That would be funny to see Shanny stuck on the same dead-end team that the other player I focus on was in for 20-someodd years.

If Shanny could step up and fill in Big Joe's spot there, that would definitely endear him to Boston fans. Sadly, I think Shanners is getting up there in age as to not be able to do so.

Is he leaving detroit because Yzerman is probably going to retire? Who knows.

It's strange to put into context, but what Joe DIDN'T bring to the table leadership-wise, Shanny possesses in spades. He's ready made for the captain's C.

On the other end of the spectrum, however, Shanny no longer has the ability to fill Joe's shoes in terms of outright scoring contributions. Joe's peaking in terms of ability, while Shanny can at least see over the top of the hill, even if he's not quite over it. As long as Boston fans understand what he'd bring to the team, I think signing him would be terrific for the group, and particularly Bergeron and Boyes.

I think you hit the nail on the head there Dave... they need some leadership and Shanny candefinitely give that to them, even if only for a year or two, he can teach them a lot in that time...
