No doubt he didn't mean to. It was just an unfortunate push really.

It's deserved. He's not a nasty guy, he seems to get a lot of respect. That said, it was a careless play and warranted a suspension. Glad McQuaid is okay.

Careless or not, careless plays get people hurt - so whether or not there's intent - there has to be consequences to plays where you can see catastrophic injuries as a result

He pushed off in the players back with his stick, it was obvious that it would result in a suspension. I am not sure if he tried it or not but I think the NHL had no choice but to give him a suspension. Similar plays received suspensions.

I agree, he is a very nice guy, and I am sure he regretted it right after it happened. I got to meet him twice, and I root for the guy all the time to succeed except when he plays the Pens.. The suspension was acceptable, and I see no problems..

I guess I understand the suspension even if I don't believe the intent was there, but I am completely baffled by the inconsistency of suspensions. I have seen the video of this and the Semin incidents, and in my opinion Semin's was far worse as the intent was there and Semin knew exactly what he was doing. How Shelley gets a suspension and Semin doesn't is confusing as hell to me. If Semin gets away with a fine here, I don't understand why Shelley doesn't, and vice versa, if Shelley is suspended then Semin should certainly be suspended. The league is making it very hard to dispute Flyers claims that the league has a different set of standards for their players, just like the Steelers in the NFL.

In the past I might have said "crying", but honestly I can't argue with any Flyer fan who feels their players are getting treated differenty or being watched more closely. It is very apparent, so the "crying" is gone and now the fans are "claiming" what the NHL is making very obvious. This just makes me shake my head as they had two incidents right next to each other and they suspend one guy and only fine the other. Makes absolutely no sense to me.
