Shipping advice on high end card

What is the best / safest option for shipping a $250.00 card to Sweden?

Registered mail, plain and simple. If you want to be totally covered, insure it for the extra $1.40/$100 coverage.

No insurrance available (60$ max)

Dont put the full value on it also, over 10$ Sweden residents are taxe just like us Canadians.

I tape up the mailers with big transaparent tape all over so it cant be rippped open or dammaged in transit.

If he paid via paypal you need the signature confirmation to protect yourself wich Expresspost dosent offer outside Canada.

i always wondered, as i have possibly undervalued cards on the customs form going to canada... does canada post get suspicious when they see a declared value card worth $10 being shipped registered? if i was one of their workers, it would raise a red flag for me...

The only time they opened my package, it was a sealed case of series 2, the sender putted a value of 50$ and the package cost 60-75$ to ship.

In Canada i believe everything incomming over 20$ is taxable, in Sweden i think its 10$

You can put 20-30$ value if the package cost 18$, but if i was buying a 250$ card i wouldnt be impressed to pay a 15% tax on 250$ + customs fees.

You're also avoiding taxes - which is punishable by potentially much larger fines. Don't like it, don't buy the card in the first place. You can do that, but if the government comes down on you for avoiding taxes, don't be surprised. It's part and parcel of living in the country - and although you might get away with it, it won't always be case.

Plus asking someone to fraudulently declare something can also be potentially trouble for the sender too.

PS - I have sent a $500 card in the mail - insured and double registered with the AR card.

but along those lines, how can you really put a declared value on something like a hockey card if you didn't sell it, just traded for it? that is always my logic, and will be if i ever get questioned by authorities, for a trade and valuing the package low. now an ebay sale, that is a whole other matter...

It's still a transaction - I don't declare it for the BV of the card - just what the cash value of the card is
