Shipping as a "gift" international

I want to send something to Russia tracked and insured but I don't want the person receiving it to get him with the huge tax fee on their end.

If I send it as a gift do I lose all rights to a claim if something happened during shipping?

Any help would be great.

u cant send something tracked and insured and mark it low, then if something happens the value declared will be the one that matters what i know of, otherwise why send it tracked and registered if its not much of value?... i have recieved some cards 80-100$ sent as regular instead and marked like hobby cards 10$.. never anyproblems.. But if its a card with higer value i think the person should pay for proper shipping and even pay if bad luck, i know i once got bummed on a 250$ card but it was worth it even tho i could asked to lower value..

Hey,

No you still can submit a claim for it if you mark it as a gift. You'll only get back what you insured it for though. Even when you mark it as a gift sometimes the person on the other end will still get hit with the duty/tax. I mark everything gift. Sent to Russia many times and have never had an issue.

gifts don't mean you save on customs/duty... gifts are taxable too. It's kinda pointless. Not sure why it's even there.
