What are your experiences with shipping there?

I sent a card there that tracking shows leaving Canada on Nov 27. Buyer said they have not received it yet, they are being fine about it but I am getting nervous.

January 6th Update:

Well it finally showed up in Czech customs today, after leaving Canada on the 27th of November. I can breathe a little easier.

Ive been shipping cards to the Czech republic for years. Ive never had an issue. My experience with cards in padded envelopes usually arrive within 10 business days( I rarely use tracking). Ive also shipped packages by regular mail(not expedited or tracked). These have taken up to 2 months because they go by boat but always arrive. I hope you sent the latter, otherwise I would be concerned. At least with tracking you should know in time. Keeping fingers crossed it gets there for you.

I have never had an issue shipping overseas to CZ. Usually gets there in about 2 weeks or less.

In my trades to there I have had packages take more than a month. Given the Christmas mail traffic I wouldn't worry yet.

Patience. I've had packages take a couple months to arrive. Not sure if the holiday season adds to the delay.

I would be proactive with the communication so the other party is aware of your concern.

It'll work out.

Thanks everyone, the buyer and I have been in contact they are ok so far...I am the one getting worried.

I am reciving about 1 package per week since 2004 from USA or Canada (mostly from eBay) and just once happend that the mail was lost and I remember twice it took half a year. :D But in 99% cases it takes 2-3 weeks to get the envelope from America to the Czech Republic, so you dont need to worry. ;) Luk.

Thanks for letting me know and thanks for the feedback everyone else, now the waiting continues!

I've never lost a package there. But as a rule of thumb, I always mark "PHOTOS" on the customs forms and place a low value. If you write Jacob Voracek Rookie Cup Patch Autograph with a value of $250 US you're asking for trouble! Just hope it shows early next week!

Exactlyyyyyyyyy

I write photographs on mine as well.

I ship to the Czech all the time as well. Never had a problem knock on wood.

The mail has been very slow lately though. I had three packages take over a month.

I'm wondering if anybody can offer me some shipping advice.

I've sold a $200 card to a guy in the Czech Republic. I've never shipped outside of the US, so I set up the eBay Global Shipping Program for him to use. He's balking at the high fees (which I can understand), but from what I've been able to gather I can't ship it insured with tracking any cheaper than the eBay GSP.

Anybody have any good recommendations on how to safely send a $200 to the Czech Republic from the US?

Thanks!

That Global shipping thingy sucks because it charges imaginary custom fees also from the buyer. Just charge him $25 or so for the shipping with tracking and let him deal with the customs at his end if it gets stuck in customs.

Was the package shipped Air?

True story, I once shipped my end of a huge trade to Sweden by ground service - total accident. It took three months to arrive and I have never been more anxious about anything to do with cards in my life.

Conversely, shipping by Air can take less than a week, depending on where it is headed. If I ship to Vonkale in Finland on a Monday, he always seems to have his cards by Friday!

If tracking shows it leaving Canada cant you track where it is now?

I believe it was shipped by ground, something which I will not do again.

Photographs is a good one, I've also been known to put "Children's trading cards" which isn't quite as half-truth as photos :D
