should I get this graded?

Tremendous card!

I would run over it with a magnifying glass to see if it's worth it. If there's any imperfections they'll ding you for sure.

Would I be safe to put on the grading submission that I want a minimum grade of 9?

I am going to guess that the answer is no unless you want to guarantee yourself a lower grade. You can't tell them how to grade your cards. Defeats the point of this exercise but then again, I have witnessed people badgering to get their 9.5's to a 10..

my two cents.

ahhhhhhh and the plot thickens. Congrats. I want to speak to the person who you were bidding against. I have a 4 color Toews also. Not as nice. But pretty sweet.

Looking at that pic it has already been graded and busted out of the slab by someone, probably due to it not grading as well as they expected. SPA FW patches do not tend to grade very well overall.

Darren

Since paying $1700+ for the card I don't think grading is going to add any value other than if you like owning graded cards.

I don't see any added value in grading the card - people are going to fall in love with the patch and any mid/lower grade will just lower your value in my mind - that and I personally hate slabbed cards. Anything under 9.5 would be hands off for me personally.

Wow, what a great card! Congrats on the win, you sure wanted it. Are you a Toews collector?
I agree with Darren, FW patch's don't usually grade well. The card will do well on its own being a 4 colour patch.

Cheers

The card looks like it's already in the internal BGS sleeve. My guess is that it was previously graded, perhaps not to their liking so they took it out.

Thanks everyone for the advice. It will go right in a magnetic one touch and stay there! I'm just starting a Toews collection and I figured this one is a good start.

Does anybody think I overpaid for this card?

I don't think anyone can answer that question but you, everyone has their limits and collecting priorities if your happy with the card and the price then it doesn't matter, it looks like someone else you were bidding against felt it was worth approx the same.

Yes probably OVERpaid and the $$$ could have been spent on a nice Toews The Cup ARP #/99.

NOT to steal your THUNDER, I have sold / traded 2 of the Toews Ultimate Rookie Patch AUTO #/25 (multi colors) to HI members for less!
I have ONE left and I am in no hurry to move along with 2 other PC items .....

... bought from a HI member @ Expo.

That was a very large sum to pay and even nice crosby fwaps have trouble getting to that range.

If you like it, then you paid exactly enough (I tend to overpay as well) but in terms of market value, I would say you are quite high for a non-true rookie.

It looks like it was already graded and most likely was broken out for being a relatively low grade 8-8.5.

I say don't slab it, would look better in a magnetic anyway.
