Sid for MVP

I really dislike giving goalies the Hart Trophy, I always have. I'm still part of that old mindset and generation from 20 years or so ago that believes the Vezina is the MVP goalie accolade and there should possibly be a second "defensive" award added for best offensive defenseman, I know, *** backwards. But I digress.

Based on what's gone down this year, I think Crosby has a strong case, as he did last year, but like last year, I don't think he will get it. McDavid grabs it IMO, but Sid definitely finishes top 3 again in voting.

I'll say McDingus wins it but I'll tell you what.
I think without Talbot in net,McDavid still wouldn't
make any difference to the final product.Anybody
lesser in net this year,or an injury to Talbot and
the Oilers would have been status quo.Talbot has been
unreal.

Ok, after last night I don't think there's any argument that McDavid is the landslide winner now. Who would have thought the Oilers would be first in the Pacific right now? The Sharks hit their major slump which is to be expected after the long run last year, and McDavid just keeps finding ways to lead his team to wins. I have to say I am extremely impressed with what McDavid, Talbot, and McLellan have done this year.

As much as I want to be serious. Steve Ott deserves an honorable mention. I mean, he willingly gives fans and opponents a face that they really want to punch. But I digress.. McJesus .. the reckoning is coming....I think he takes it down. The Oil are nothing without him.

This was about 2 weeks ago when I heard this one:

When McDavid is on the Ice, the Oilers play at (roughly) the same "rate" as the Capitals. When he's on the bench, they're playing on par with Flyers.

Truth is - Edmonton is a mediocre team (at best) and scratching and clawing for a playoff spot (let's be real honest, they're looking to win at Bingo again) if McDavid is not there.

With McDavid? They've got a great shot at winning their division, and I don't think a playoff round win (or two) is crazy to thing about. I would not label them contenders yet - but he's got them on the cusp.

The player MOST VALUABLE to his team has to be McDavid. Without him (no offense Oilers fans) you aren't making the playoffs.

Without Sid, Malkin is still Top 5 in points per game as a supporter, and Murray/Fleury have played great. Not taking anything away from Sid as his season has been phenomenal, but McDavid would be my choice for MVP.

I don't know if he will get 100, but he gets the Hart. Without him, the Oilers are still playing the lottery game hoping for another top five pick. I believe I read somewhere that he accounts for something like 40% of the Oilers points production. If the Hart is Most Valuable to one's team, he gets it hands down. If it's best in the league, at least for this season, hard to beat him there. Had Sid not missed the 7 games or whatever, it might be a lot closer.

McDavid is MVP for sure. Art Ross and a Hart, not a bad second year huh? I don't think any other player has done that since Crosby himself back in 2006-07.

McDavid wins this and it's no contest. I'm also surprised no one even mentioned Karlsson. He's a major reason they're where they are right now. I believe this is his best season ever

Not sure how McDavid doesn't win it. Crosby is amazing and had a highlite laden season but I think McDavid is more important to his team that any player was this year. Without him, the Oil is in the running for a 1st pick overall again.
