Signed jerseys... are there many collectors?

Is their much of a market?
Are their many collectors of signed hockey jerseys?
Not cards but a reg jersey signed.
Also i'm not referring to game worn.
 
I picked up a signed 2000/2001 era avs jersey signed by bourque at the fall expo for one hell of a deal.. I dabble if it's a good price/ style of jersey Im looking for, next step is a game used
 
I collect Habs Jerseys,so far I've picked up a Maurice Richard/PK Subban/Carey Price & Ken Dryden.I'm currently on the hunt for a Vintage Jacque Plante if anyone around knows where I could find one lmk please...
 
I've got a couple signed jerseys - JP Bordeleau Hawks, Ed Shack Leafs, Fleury Rangers Liberty. I have to get my arse in gear & get 1 or 2 framed/put up.
 
I have a few, both player replicas and team signed. Most recent ones are a team signed Isles jersey (12-13 team, won at a team event) and a John Tavares.
 
Where is the MARKET for these?? Do you find more at SPORTSCARD SHOWS or
on EBAY? or any other sites you know of.

I have signed /framed-Kovalchuk,Yzerman,Gretzky,Crosby,Orr,Joseph and a Penny Hardaway(Basketball).So I would say yes,big market.If you have any you are looking to unload- plmk.
 
Direct Buy must have a deal in place with Frameworth because they have some Frameworth auto replica jerseys for sale, .....AWESOME prices, best I have seen anywhere. Of course initial membership fees there are a bit of a choker.
 
We do okay with them, but we tend to just keep the autographed numbers around and then sew up the jersey when it's ordered -- cheaper for the customer and not all that inventory sitting on the walls.

It's tough to sell on eBay, because you're pricing against I'd say at least 75% fakes, and make it 95% for Crosby, Gretzky, etc.

Ask Frameworth directly, as they sometimes do some specials deals to get people into the retail outlet or move inventory when guys get traded. If not, hit me up, as we're usually at least 20-25% off the list price for Frameworth stuff.
 
As The Icebox said, there are so many fakes out there, I would never buy a signed (or unsigned for that matter) jersey from ebay, card show, LCS, etc. The junk being sold on ebay is jst comical - 'authentic' jerseys that look custom-tailored to fit only the Hunchback of Notre Dame, COA's that are worth less than the paper they are printed on, etc.

I have 3 Sedin auto'ed jerseys... One dual signed by the twins, a good friend of mine had a co-worker with contacts at Rogers Arena who took my jersey in to get signed, and I have a pair of signed framed replica jerseys that came straight from UD as redemptions from inserts in 00-01 SP Authentic. If I could meet the Sedins in person one day to get some more items autographed I would jump at the chance, but I can't see myself ever purchasing "100% genuine hand-signed with COA and hologram trust-us-its-real" 8x10's, jerseys, etc.

I'm up to 16 framed authentic (not replica) autographed jerseys from hockey (8), golf (2 shirts), basketball (3), baseball (2) and football (1), that fill up a good part of my basement walls. They look great with matching frames and different colours and they're a wonderful conversation piece. Only my spouse isn't impressed by them and calls them my "T-shirts". I've also got one other that's yet to be framed along with one Meigray game-used unsigned framed jersey.

Of the autographed jerseys, some came directly from Upper Deck Authenticated, others from Ebay and the unframed one is a signed Team Canada jersey (auto'd by the whole team and coaching staff, including Gretzky) which came from Jarome Iginla himself after I'd supplied him with the authentic jersey. I was only burned once with a Gretzky jersey purchased off Ebay that purported to be UDA but it was missing the COA advertised in the auction. I'm sure the signature was OK but w/o the COA, it was worthless to me and didn't fit in with the collection. Luckily I recovered $200 from ebay and sold it to recoup the rest of my purchase price; that was before the days of "paypal guaranteed satisfaction".

You definitely need to know your signatures to avoid fraudulent autographs and certainly you should buy from reputable sources, whether you buy from Ebay or anywhere else. I wouldn't hesitate buying more off Ebay, as long as the jersey's signature and the seller's reputation checked out AOK and the auction contained photos proving it was authentic and came with its COA. My problem is I've almost run out of wall space and worse yet, my spouse has run out of patience with my "T-shirt" collection (sigh).
 
There is a market for the jerseys, but as far as collectors are concerned there's only so many we can have and display. For me, the purpose of a signed jersey is to display it on my wall. I still have yet to frame my jersey I got signed by Gordie Howe. It's tough for someone like me...who's a school teacher on a budget...when the authentic jersey runs around $200...the autograph ticket runs $200...then the framing would be around $300. That's a substantial chunk of change. I own more than 20 signed jerseys, but my 1999 CUP Finals Modano jersey and this Howe are the only ones I want to frame. The other ones I simply wear. While they may have 'some' value, I simply like showing off that I was able to meet these players and get them to sign my jersey. I would run out of room on my walls real quick if I were to frame them all.

Obviously I have a few others but I don't display them or wear them as either they don't fit anymore...or I'd get laughed at to no end wearing a Marc Denis white CBJ jersey.

I'm 98% hockey, but I do love football and baseball...I just don't collect it. However, the 2 jerseys I do have are framed and I love them in the game room.

I have a 1999 Sugar Bowl jersey signed by Dat Nguyen of Texas A&M. (I was in the Aggie Band and he was a regular patron at a restaurant I worked while in college)

The other is a 1998 Division Champions red Rangers jersey signed by former Texas Rangers outfielder Rusty Greer...whom I loved to watch him play.

So by the time it's all said-and-done, I will have 4 total jerseys signed...and plenty more hanging in my closet that will never be displayed unless I am wearing it.

As much as I'd love to own a Crosby sweater...I'd have nowhere to put it, and something like that begs to be displayed. I just have too many photos, nick-knacks, cards, sticks and skates displayed for me to start thinking about jerseys. The smaller an item is, the more items you can display. That being said, everyone needs to own at least 1 signed jersey on their wall. It's just an absolute "must" for anyone's game room or "mancave."
