Slabs or no slabs???

I prefer not having them in the slabs. Throw em in a screwdown or a magnetic case that people can remove the cards from if wanted.. I have having 95% of a collection in magnetic snapcases and toploaders and then the other odd cards in large plastic slabs. They don't store well and they look out of place displaying them as well..
 
I hate the slabs. There's the other arguments about cost, difficult to store, but to me, the main reason is that it makes the card look ugly. I'd pick up tons of singles from Ultimate if they were unslabbed, but because they are, the only Ultimate cards I own are Vermette's (which came in those top loaders anyways)
 
I put the majority of my stuff in one touches and graded card bags anyways and thus store in graded card boxes. I like the slabs. Card is tamper-proof, well protected and it's a signature for Ultimate. Like it the way it is. I don't need to personal touch memorabilia pieces of the card itself to feel any closer to the concept of the card.
 
I don't mind the slabs in the least. I do wonder about the "slabbability" of the base cards (not to mention the inclusion of base cards in the first place), but that's a different poll.

A bit of a cost comparison, though, that no one has yet mentioned. The slabs contain a convenient place for the labels. Without the labels they would have to stamp number the cards. Now I don't know what stamping costs--probably close to nothing--but I'm sure that keeps costs down some, too.

And remember, the numbering of the entire Ultimate set, x/25000 or whatever, was also a novelty they have continued to the most recent release.
 
IMO, they should loose the slabs UNLESS they go back to the 01-02 style. BGS graded. These added a little something extra. Take a nice auto and give it a gem mint 9.5 and it makes it more appealing to me. The BGS slabs are nicer that the ITG issues as well. I cant stand the green labels:( Price of slabbing is not a big deal to me personnaly, if you want a cheaper ITG product, buy Franchises;) its one of the more underrated product out there, again just my opinion. As for storing them, they do take up a lot of space, but stack very nicely and the card is forever protected, barring fire or water damage.

I can't say I care a whole lot...But if I had to decide I say keep 'em in slabs. They have other nice products with out slabs and at least one I would consider a high end product(in the game used international..45.00 a pack it is high end IMO).
For the base cards I would say make it part of the run and just put the info on the card itself(info that woudl be on the plate in the slab)
 
I like the slabs! It's a unique way to protect cards so you don't have to worry about card's condition when opening a pack. It's also a nice display and strong way to market ITG's high end product,... :)
 
Slab 'em! I like the fact that I can use them as a paperweight or a drink coaster. And if I'm feeling really adventurous, and have enough of them, I can make a way cool fort ;) ;):D . -Mike
 
I love the slabs. I have made all my sleves just the right size so in that I can place them together. They look really sharp all lined up.

Store your cards.....boring!
 
I don't like the fact they are so hard to store in a box but I guess it's a good way to know the cards haven't been altered or damaged. If I collected ITG though I would prefer without the slabs.
