Slimming down collection - who do I keep?

I would go with Vinny. He is a proven player, and is a very collectable player in my mind. Tokarski isn't a proven player, and cant be counted on if he doesn't have a good defense in front of him. Granted he would be easier to collect, but LeCavalier has alot more cards to go after.

So...I'mma say this and I'mma say this once since you I know you best outta everyone on HI (except maybe JZ, Jon and Derek) ...keep both. You're so selective with what you collect Vinny-wise that you're only gonna collect a few of his cards every couple months anyway. That will allow you to be more active with your Tokarski collection if he starts appearing in sets more frequently.

This isn't Steve slowing down the Sakic and Hejduk freight train ... you don't 100% them both at once so you don't need to chase 80 cards a set. Dunno...just my thought :p

If you're looking to slim the collection and slow it down considerably, go with Tokarski. All this talk about "more options to choose from" is sort of antithetical to your desire to not spend tons of cash. With Tokarski you may have another season or so of only ITG releases, which will certainly help your bankbook (does anybody still use a bankbook?) and focus on getting the hard-to-find items from previous releases. If you go the Vinny route, well, Artifacts. Say no more, ya know? LOL

Meant more options to choose from if he wanted to get real picky with what he is picking up but sounds like you already to that so I like what Chadsexington said.

hi there .

i would go for vinny , i've tried to meet dustin here in kelowna a few times and he would not talk to anyone after games and i'de say has a big head would not even sign for kids , just my thoughts .

I'd say keep collecting Lecavalier. He is still a solid superstar in the league, and though his cards will be more expensive than Tokarski's, your long-term investment is obviously more secure with Vinny. As some have said, no one knows how Tokarski's career will transpire. In fact, I bet a lot of people haven't even heard of him (since a lot of guy's don't follow junior hockey, and mostly follow the NHL).

I must say, I'm quite excited at the amount of conversation. I'm leaning towards keeping the Lecavalier collection as it means a little more to me than the Tokarski, my only problem is that I'm having a hard time convincing myself moving the CHL emblem is the right thing to do.

Keeping one little card won't hurt will it?

Tokarski may go the way of Justin Pogge, Al Montoya, David Leneveau, Hannu Toivonen, etc.

With Vinny you know what you are getting. You have plenty of card options. He plays for your favourite team, etc.

I think the only thing holding you onto Tokarski is the CHL emblem. If it wasn't for that this probably wouldn't even be a discussion. Your making your decision based too much on the hobby/card world instead of your actual enjoyment/feelings towards the player and sport. This is a hobby. Use it for that purpose.
