G99 ... You are taking this way to seriously!
The way I see it, both GM's have been trying to get the leverage in the deal. ST wanted to give the fans what they were begging for, but DL decided to play hardball and involve our provincial rival in the talks. smyth asked to be traded to Edmonton...not Calgary. If there is one thing our GM has learned from such instances as the Heatley fiasco, is that he is not going to be bullied into a bidding war.
In all fairness, the Oilers have had more pressing business this weekend, than to spend countless hours trying negotiate with the Kings.
If Lombardi is only trying to buy out a contract, why doesn't he just take Frasers contract in exchange.. Seriously, what difference does it make.
If DL wants to barter for days on end, respectable GM's like Tambi with obviously bigger
agendas and priorities, is just going to wash their hands of it all. To be honest, I'm sick of hearing about this trade and DL can keep him.
The Oilers are so stocked with young talent, we really dont need him.
Maybe the Oil will go after Richards this off-season...it would be quite easy to do financially and we would be a better team.
Personally, the Kings can keep a disgruntled player on their roster if that's what they want to do. It only makes their other Western rivals take advantage of that on the ice come October.
Sorry Lombardi...but you lose any way you look at it.
