I'll keep adding as I acquire...my goal is to have every HOF's rookie card.

PS. you will notice a couple of cards of non-HOFers, specially at the end...it's safe to say that they will probably make it :)

UPDATE!

I actually acquired this card last December but i only just got it in, so it's technically a 2019 addition. This is my 1st 1965 Topps and one of my favorite sets. The solid background colour give it a nice contrast and make the card "pop". Can't wait to get Cournoyer, Cheevers and Esposito. Jan.27/'19

Unlike last year when my 1st pick up of the year was in may, this time it's literally days into the new year. Significance wise this is huge addition to the PC and I got it for a good deal so i'm doubly happy lol. I doubt i'll be able to top this in 2019 so it's most likely all downhill from here on haha. These actually came in on December 31st so they are technically a 2018 pick up. Both of these are from the same seller and was able to get them for a great deal. The Ullman is a stunner and looks much better than its grade. The Gumper has that vintage "look" but it's nicely centered and that's a priority of mine when i can afford it. Dec. 31/'18

Here are a couple of Xmas pick ups and gifts and most likely my last additions to the PC. This also puts me at 55% completion (78/142) and puts me squarely at 15th on the registry. Dec. 25/'18

And it's baaaaack! For those of you who are following me in this journey, you will remember that one of my 1st cards that i acquired when i plunged into vintage was a bobby clarke rookie. Unfortunately at that time of my purchase i wasn't as informed as i am now and later found out to avoid KSA. My KSA bobby clarke was actually very decent but it wasn't going to fit into my PSA collection. Anyhow, i ended up trading the card but i always knew that i'd get it back. This will most likely be my last addition for this year unless the wife surprises me. Nov.27/'18

This was a bit of an unexpected purchase but the deal was too good to pass up and these cards don't come around too often (especially the Perreault). Hall was on my "hit list" for a long time, there's something about that card that always drew me to it but for some reason never pulled the trigger. The Ratelle was really unexpected due to its high grade, tbh for my PC a 6 is enough so who knows i may downgrade one day. The Perreault is phenomenal...anyways let's get on with it! Nov. 13/'18

Been a few months since my last purchase and the first one for 2018 so this addition was a longtime coming. Given that Montreal is my favourite team, i always try to prioritize the habs when i can. I present you the winner of 8 Stanley Cups, Jacques Lemaire. May 23/'18

And we're back with the 90s! This is a classic of that era, along with the brodeur of the same year/set. Dec.4/17

This was card was a bit of a surprise. I hadn't planned on acquiring it but a good deal popped up and i jumped on it. Really happy to land this as it completes the HOF rookies of the '71 set. Nov.14/17

Done the '80s HOF RCs!!!

Finally!! The crowning piece to my 1st milestone...the Messier!!! Super happy that i can finally put to bed this 1st stage. Nov. 9/17

In a bit of a roll here. Gilbert and Trottier have been in my bucket list for a while now and i'm glad to have them in the collection. Oct.24/17

And here we have Howell joining his BFF Bathgate. While this is graded a bit lower than i'd like, the card shows really well and it wouldn't surprise me if got a 5 or even 6 if it got regraded. Oct. 19/17

Another oldie but a goodie. Here we have Bill Durnan who received his rookie card 5 years after he had retired. Oct. 5/17

I know that i still need Messier to finish off the '80s but that high $ will have to wait for now. My wife is due at anytime so the $ is being used for baby stuff. That being said, 1990's HOF rookies are so cheap that i can't help myself a little hehe. Here we have a mix of Russian, Swedish and Canadian. Sept. 19/17

Took some time off from collecting due to other priorities but i'm slowly getting back into it. Here we have 3 additions, 2 of which are new inductees for 2017 (Selanne & Andreychuk) and Brodeur who probably has the ugliest RC out there lol. July 31/17

Let's keep on rolling!! Got the Nieuwe back but as 9 now. Now that i have the Leetch, i only need the Messier to finish off the 80s. The Laperriere is a spectacular looking card and it also marks my 1st rookie parkhurst. May 10/17

But I like your uniformity of having them all as PSA 9's. I'm partial to BGS but to each their own.

Look again the Lemieux is there (just recently got it). I am only doing PSA 9s for the 80s, the rest will be based on eye-appeal and within budget. The ones that i am missing from the 80s are Coffey (incoming), Bourque, Messier, Langway and Anderson.

Thanks for the view/comments!

btw if you wish to see high-res pics, they are all here: http://imageevent.com/vintagerulz/gradedrookies

Good collecting strategy/focus. The nice thing with what you're doing with the 80's stuff is your going for 9's which is the second highest grade and fairly affordable compared to 10's, but not too low (nothing wrong with lower grades). 9's always look good and will go up in value (most of them will). Keep posting this kind of stuff. I love the vintage threads.

Awesome assemblage. A few more non_HOFers than I was expecting to see (Wendl, Beezer, Pelle) but they would all still be more than welcome in my PC too.

Like you, I also prefer my vintage cards to be authenticated and evaluated by PSA so I really like this group. And adding those three at the end are quite apropos.

And lastly, that Mario 9 is a stunning card. Congrats and keep'em coming.

Thank you cburt and Gomaz! I got Pelle, wendel and beezer early on in my collection when I wasn't doing strictly HOFers but they're significant enough that can stay lol. I do have my eye on your langway and Anderson but the mario has drained me a bit so I'll have to wait a bit before hitting you up (if you still have them that is).

Thanks foley. I'm not sure when they added the hologram but I don't think it was too long ago. I do like it a lot though!

Very nice.

When/why did PSA add the little psa hologram? I never noticed it before.

They added it to combat counterfeiting their certs and slabs. Basically for the same reason Upper Deck added holograms to cards in 1989. When - within the last year I believe.
