Some advice about getting cards graded at the next show?

Hello all,

I would welcome any sound advice for my first time visit at the Anti-Expo Beckett booth to get some cards graded.

I've read that this is being done through the third-party company Grosnor, that handles s/h, custom paper and fees, so I'm interested in your feedback on their work.

I'm also curious what recommendations the community has when it comes to evaluating which cards to submit, how to prepare them for submission to Grosnor (specially those thicker cards), and what prices to expect from them (particularly with Beckett's recent price changes).

Finally, if any members know of better/cheaper ways to submit their cards from Canada to BGS, be it through forum groups or other companies, I'd like to hear your suggestions.

The gent I have dealt with at Grosner's for the last two Summit shows has been nothing short of professional.

Personally, I am one who only grades young guns and hard signed rookies from Upper Deck.
In short, any rookie in the past 10 years or so is a BGS slab for myself.

And it is my opinion, not to grade auto patch cards. You will likely never get anything past a 9 grade, and would consider myself extremely lucky getting anything higher than that.

I am guessing I am being skeptical when it comes to third party grading. I love the idea that you can get a big group of cards together to submit but I am guessing multiple copies of the same card will be sent in the group (ie. McDavid YGs). So if 10 are sent in by different people and 9 come back 9.5 and the other a 10...how do you know who the 10 belongs to?

I've had the same experience yesterday. Chris Belbeck was extremely patient and took the time to explain every single nuance of their process.

I had a few auto patch cards in my submission, so I'll see what comes of it. I guess it's normal for thicker cards to be harder to grade real high, due to their propensity for getting damage, but it can be worth a shot for some of the big ticket items.

I know BGS is still the grader, I just don't know how they keep all of the submissions separate. So they send as a group but the group has multiple individual submissions in there? Again, I just want to know how I can tell for sure if the YGs I submitted are the ones I get back.

Each submission of cards is individually identified, tagged and sealed at the table where you submit them. I don't know what happens over at Beckett, but I guess they handle each order separately, so nothing gets mixed.

Usually group submissions that I have been involved in don't allow multiple copies of the same card. To avoid that exact problem
