Hi Guys!
I've been waiting and waiting to do some show and tell, but everytime i get another card for my sets, i wait till it arrives and the vicious cycle continues. Today, I'm putting my foot down and kickin' the scanner into high gear
Also, BIG thanks to everyone who's had a hand in the progress of these sets, there's too many people to list!
First some completed sets:
I finished off the 96/97 Pinnacle By the numbers insert set first. Way back on Christmas day in 1996, my parents bought me 3 packs of pinnacle for christmas and I pulled the Selanne by the numbers, ever since then I've hung onto it and thought about trying to take a run at the whole thing, well finally I decided to do it. I actually did it surprisingly quick as they're quite readily available online for reasonable prices:
I decided to go for the high voltage set /1500 because I used to be a real card store rat hanging out there any and every chance I got, and I remember the owner of the shop gave me the lindros promo and I was immediately hooked on the design! I had to purchase the Selanne twice as it got lost in the mail:
Now for the works in progress:
I remember buying Summit cards like a mad man in the mid 90's and I was lucky enough to pull the Hull and Koivu High voltage mirage cards /600 in packs. Of course in my misguided youth, I'd sell anything of value the second that I pulled it. Ironically, those two are a few of the ones i still need to complete the set:
These are last two that i need to complete the set:
Eric Daze
Brett Hull
The first time I saw the Kariya Z-team, I almost dropped 100 dollars for it back in the day. Luckily I held off until this winter and got it for 5 dollars shipped
I also had the Selanne from this set incoming but it was lost in the mail. I even tracked down the insert checklist (found it in an old box of cards in my parents basement):
I'm still looking for these:
Eric Lindros
Teemu Selanne (Incoming but definitely lost in the mail)
Sergei Fedorov
The clearcut winners are a beautiful set, one of the coolest ideas of the 90's if you ask me. I once pulled a hot pack from SP, and got every type of insert except the clearcut winner. I never did pull one from a pack, but I always loved the design. I started this set by picking up the Deadmarsh for a solid 2 bucks:
I still need these:
Wayne Gretzky
Mario Lemieux (Incoming)
Patrick Roy
Jeremy Roenick
Doug Weight
Theoren Fleury
Steve Yzerman
Pavel Bure
Eric Daze
Lastly, my newest set, the Scripted swatches. I've always wanted to try one of these sets, but past years have had gigantic checklists that i just couldn't afford to collect, plus with all of the rookies, the quality of some of the players wasn't that interesting to me. I really like the look of this set, and hope one day I can finish it off:
I still need these, preference is for 3 clr patches:
SS-AO Alexander Ovechkin
SS-EM Evgeni Malkin
SS-JE Jordan Eberle
SS-PK Patrick Kane
SS-PS P.K. Subban
SS-SC Sidney Crosby
SS-SS Steven Stamkos
SS-SY Steve Yzerman
SS-TH Taylor Hall
SS-TS Tyler Seguin
SS-WG Wayne Gretzky SP
Thanks for the long read! and if you only looked at the pictures, thanks for stopping in too!
I hope everyone has a great day!
