SP Authentic pushed back again?

The last I heard, SP Authentic was to hit the shelves June 5-6, but I was just looking at an online store from the US, which now states that SP Authentic isn't going live until JULY 5! WTF!! Is this true? If it is, I'm beginning to wonder if it will ever hit the stores? :mad:

Come on Steve... I have cases pre-sold (and $$$ down by the customers). It's hard to pre-sell product, let alone make pre-orders of we can't figure out when the product will come out...

And next thing you know, it shows up only to be followed by another product 2 weeks later and you are sitting on a "way to late so it lost interest" product....

Tell me about it. I have 9 cases of SPA coming in, 2 of Ultimate, 8 OPC as it will be out before my 2 cases of the Cup.

Do the math on that for me????

(plus I had another case of the Cup request today)...

Ive posted this before, so, I apologize if this a repeat for some.

SPA is scheduled for the above date....and Ultimate and The Cup, have not (as of last Tuesday), been given the go ahead for production by the PA. Thus, if the trend continues, it is not out the question that one of those products gets das boot.

What is your source? I'll bet that much of both products have been produced already. Perhaps you mean launched or released?
 
What concerns me is that every time a product gets pushed back, every product down the line gets pushed back as well. Does this mean a repeat of 09-10, when The Cup came out in October? Where does Ultimate fit in? I realize Upper Deck is having some legal issues, but these delays are unacceptable. I can't even imagine how this affects the hobby shops.

there's no way any card company would go this late into the season without having started any production of their highest end releases. if anything, i'd imagine the cards have already been sent out to all the athletes and they're in scramble mode to get everything in.

also, both UD and Panini have already obtained the licenses to produce X number of products a year. they knew what they could and couldn't do well before the season started.

This is all true but isn't there also a clause in the licensing contracts that state no product can be released past August 31st? If that's the case, UD better get there proverbial poop together if they're gonna make the cut-off for The Cup

You also have to wonder if the PA getting involved has anything to do with money owed to players...

It can't be a coincidence that the three exclusively hard-signed products are delayed like this every year. We'll get the old "need more time to get live autograph content" reasons they always give. UD is getting closer and closer to a breaking point and at some point the bubble will burst.

Didn't both Panini (Dominion) and UD (Cup) get extensions last year? I seem to recall these being out after the 8/31 deadline, but my memory's foggy on that sort of thing. They had to stagger them by two weeks as well to give each its own time in the sun.

*edit* The first Dominion break in the archives over at SCF was from 9/14.

I believe you're right Richard but I doubt the PA wants to bend their rules every year. Panini is likely on target for their releases therefore UD is S.O.L if they can't be ready in time. I still say this is a money issue though

100% as most of the cards have most likely been printed and sent to the players already. It will probably be the same for Ultimate and The Cup. Think Kevin Shattenkirk last year, traded to St Louis from Colorado and was pictured in an Avs jersey for everything except the /25 Rookie Cup Parrallel (not auto'd)
 
I was looking forward to SPA, but its getting too late for me to attempt the set with any interest besides picking up any Palushaj. I think I will set my sights on Contenders now...lower numbered RC's, hard auto's and a great looking design :)
